Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments focused on obesity and binge eating behaviors, using standardized tests to inform therapy decisions.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions that address the emotional, behavioral, and psychological factors affecting weight management.
  • Design personalized treatment plans that cater to each patientโ€™s unique needs and preferences, ensuring a holistic approach to their care.
  • Educate patients on the psychological aspects of weight control and the implications of their eating behaviors, promoting self-awareness and effective coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with medical specialists to create an integrated treatment approach that enhances patient health and wellness.
  • Facilitate engaging group therapy sessions to foster peer support and community, encouraging shared experiences and collective growth.
  • Monitor and assess patient progress regularly, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with individuals who are facing challenges related to obesity and binge eating. These clients often require compassionate support and effective intervention strategies to navigate their mental health and weight management journeys. Understanding the psychological implications of eating disorders and being able to tailor strategies to individual circumstances will be critical to your success in this role.

Qualifications
  • A masterโ€™s degree in mental health counseling or a related field is required.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) designation in the state of Florida.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for building rapport with clients and collaborating with healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage light physical tasks, including occasional lifting or moving up to 15 pounds.
  • Visual acuity including close, distant, color, and peripheral vision necessary for accurate assessments.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in a telehealth setting is a plus, showcasing adaptability to remote service delivery.
  • Experience with EPIC EMR software or similar systems is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with obesity and eating disorders, along with experience in providing nutritional counseling, is advantageous.
