Job description

The Massachusetts Impaired Driver (MID) Instructor provides group and/or individual clinical services to patients mandated by Court or RMV to complete the driver alcohol education program. The MID Instructor completes initial adult comprehensive assessments for program admission, mid-point evaluations, and exit interviews for each participant. Additionally, the instructor participates in ongoing curriculum development and provides documentation and consultation with probation officers, courts, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The MID Program is a 16-week educational program for individuals with a first DUI conviction. Participation is court-mandated, requiring attendance at sixteen 2-hour group sessions, a mid-point interview, and an exit interview.

Schedule: Fully remote / hours will be flexible

Payrate: $25 - $30 per hour, dependent on degree and licensure

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of substance use disorders and their impact on social, physical, emotional, occupational, legal, and family functioning.
  • Support participants in identifying, articulating, and working toward recovery goals while reducing risk of recidivism.
  • Assist individuals in setting and implementing treatment and recovery goals for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Assess participant needs, identify stressors and patterns, discuss challenges, and encourage personal growth and self-efficacy.
  • Participate collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Educate, support, and empower participants by sharing information on community resources, recovery supports, and self-help groups.
  • Maintain current knowledge of recovery-oriented practices through trainings, webinars, and professional development.
  • Complete required documentation and administrative tasks, promptly report crises or incidents, and promote respect for each individual’s cultural identity.
