What is remote document review?

Remote document review is a legal process where attorneys or contract professionals examine and analyze documents electronically from remote locations, rather than in a traditional office setting. This work is often done for litigation, investigations, or regulatory compliance, and involves identifying relevant, privileged, or confidential information within large sets of electronic files. Advances in secure technology allow reviewers to access, review, and tag documents using specialized software, all while maintaining data security and client confidentiality. Remote document review offers flexibility for workers and law firms, as well as cost savings on office space and resources.

What are remote document review jobs?

In a remote document review job, you focus on verifying the accuracy and completion of important documents, typically while working from home or another remote location. The most common job in this field is that of remote document review attorney because most documents that need verification are legal documents, such as contracts and court filings. As part of the service you provide for a company, you may also offer legal advice when something on a document is incorrect, explain which documents are likely to be needed for a particular project, and act as a second pair of eyes for content already reviewed by an attorney. Outside of legal jobs, most remote document review roles entail duties like filing for contracts with the federal government or translating material that companies do not want to rely on one translator to review.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote document review professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Document Review professional, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in law—often requiring a JD degree or paralegal certification. Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity or Concordance, as well as secure file-sharing systems, is typically expected. Excellent time management, effective written communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate, efficient review of legal documents while maintaining confidentiality and meeting tight deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced in remote document review roles, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote document review professionals often face challenges such as maintaining focus during repetitive tasks, meeting strict deadlines, and navigating communication barriers with team members. To manage these effectively, it's important to set up a distraction-free workspace, leverage organizational tools to track progress, and proactively communicate with project managers and peers about any questions or issues. Utilizing secure collaboration platforms and regularly scheduled check-ins can also help keep the review process efficient and aligned with team goals.

Remote Data Entry focuses on inputting or updating data into systems, emphasizing accuracy and speed. While both roles are remote and require basic computer skills, they serve different functions within organizations.

Job description

About Us

Greenbrook Medical is building the new standard in primary care.

We deliver high-touch, relationship-based care through neighborhood clinics, grounded in a simple belief: every senior deserves the kind of care we would want for our own families. Our model prioritizes time with patients, strong care coordination, and a personalized approach that improves outcomes while lowering total cost of care.

We take full accountability for patient outcomes and overall cost of care, aligning clinical excellence with disciplined execution. That commitment shows up in our results, including a patient Net Promoter Score of 91, compared to 32 for typical healthcare organizations.

Rooted in Tampa Bay and partnered with Tampa General Hospital, we are entering an exciting phase of growth. Backed by strong unit economics, experienced operators, and a proven playbook, we are looking for builders and operators who want to help scale a healthcare platform designed to deliver better care, better coordination, and better outcomes for seniors.

About The Role

Great documentation changes everything.

As Greenbrook Medical continues to grow, we are looking for a Manager, Clinical Documentation Integrity to lead the team responsible for ensuring our clinical documentation is accurate, complete, compliant, and defensible.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows risk adjustment and HCC coding inside and out and enjoys developing people, solving problems, and building better systems.

You will lead the day-to-day operations of our CDI team across prospective and concurrent chart review. You will own team performance, quality, onboarding, coaching, workflow management, and continuous improvement while continuing to stay close enough to the work to provide real technical guidance.

You will also play an important role in helping Greenbrook's physicians and clinical teams capture the full clinical picture of the seniors we serve. That means ensuring chronic conditions are appropriately documented and coded according to CMS-HCC requirements while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and clinical integrity.

You will report to our Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity, and work closely with CDI Oversight Coordinator, Medical Records, physician leadership, and operational teams to keep the entire provider documentation ecosystem running smoothly.

This is a role for a leader who can manage the work, develop the people, and improve the system at the same time.

Location: Remote within the U.S.; preference for those located in Eastern or Central time zones.

Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm

What You'll Do

Lead a High-Performing CDI Team

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of Greenbrook's prospective and concurrent CDI review processes.
  • Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to quality, productivity, and turnaround-time standards.
  • Monitor work queues and workflow daily, identifying bottlenecks before they become problems.
  • Lead team huddles, regular 1:1s, coaching conversations, and performance discussions.
  • Manage schedules, coverage, timecards, and time-off requests to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Serve as the go-to leader for day-to-day coding questions, challenges, and escalations.

Build, Develop, and Coach Your Team

  • Own the onboarding experience for new CDI specialists from day one through independent assignment.
  • Build clear training plans, onboarding resources, reference materials, and workflows that help new team members ramp quickly.
  • Audit and monitor new coders throughout their onboarding period and determine readiness for full assignment.
  • Coach team members on technical knowledge, quality, productivity, and professional growth.
  • Create an environment where people receive clear feedback, know what great performance looks like, and have the support to improve.

Own Quality and Performance

  • Track team performance across accuracy, quality, production, turnaround time, and other key CDI metrics.
  • Identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement before they impact broader performance.
  • Deliver timely coaching and manage sustained performance issues when necessary.
  • Partner with the CDI Oversight Coordinator on audits, scoring methodology, follow-up reviews, and quality improvement.
  • Help build a consistent, fair, and data-driven approach to performance evaluation.

Make the System Better

  • Identify where workflows break down and lead practical solutions.
  • Build and improve SOPs, workflows, job aids, and documentation standards.
  • Help create coding best practices and internal guidance that makes the team's work more consistent and scalable.
  • Bring structure to complex processes and continuously look for ways to improve speed, quality, and efficiency.

Partner Across Greenbrook

  • Work closely with physician leadership and clinical teams to support accurate, complete documentation.
  • Partner with Medical Records, retrieval, billing, claims, and other operational teams to remove friction across workflows.
  • Help translate complex coding and documentation requirements into clear, practical guidance.

Protect Clinical and Coding Integrity

  • Ensure the team's work aligns with ICD-10-CM guidelines, CMS-HCC risk-adjustment requirements, payer policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Help maintain documentation and coding practices that are accurate, complete, compliant, and defensible.
  • Support audit readiness, including RADV and other regulatory or payer reviews. through accurate, complete, and defensible documentation and coding practices.

What Success Looks Like

  • New CDI specialists are onboarded quickly and successfully transition to independent work.
  • Coding accuracy and audit performance remain consistently strong.

  • The team has clear workflows, strong resources, and consistent standards for how work gets done.
  • Physicians and internal partners receive timely, practical support around documentation and coding.
  • Compliance risks and documentation gaps are identified before they become larger problems.
  • The CDI operation becomes increasingly scalable, efficient, and predictable as Greenbrook grows.

About You

You bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in clinical documentation integrity, risk adjustment, or HCC coding, including experience supporting Medicare Advantage populations.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or supervising others and holding a team accountable to clear performance standards.

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, nursing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working with EHRs and CDI, coding, or risk-adjustment platforms.
  • Strong judgment when navigating complex compliance, quality, and performance issues.
  • A mindset grounded in our core values of Heart, Excellence, Accountability, Resilience, and Teamwork

You'll stand out if you:

  • Hold a CRC certification, with CDIP or CCDS also considered a plus.
  • Have built training programs, provider education, SOPs, or workflows from the ground up.
  • Know how to coach technical teams without micromanaging them.
  • Are comfortable using data and performance metrics to identify problems and drive improvement.
  • Can explain complex coding and documentation requirements clearly to coders, physicians, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Naturally take ownership when something isn't working and figure out how to fix it.

  • Bring the judgment and discretion needed to handle sensitive performance and compliance matters.
