Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a Payroll Manager to support accurate and compliant payroll processing across the organization. This role will report directly to the Corporate Controller but will work closely with HR and Program Leadership to reconcile timecards, answer questions from employees, process payroll, and ensure proper accounting treatment and adherence to federal, state, and contract-specific requirements.
While our headquarters is in Houston, TX, this is a fully remoteopportunity (i.e., work from home)!
Key Duties:
  • Process biweekly payroll for multi-state exempt and non-exempt employees following company guidelines and procedures.
  • Reconcile payroll transactions, including wages, taxes, and deductions.
  • Process timely and accurate entry of payroll data.
  • Coordinate timesheet posting and timesheet corrections for an employee base of ~300 people.
  • Prepare reports and analyze as required.
  • Support the Corporate Controller in month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with HR to validate employee data including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
  • Track paid time off and other benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements.
  • Assist with external audits such as 5500 and workers compensation by providing payroll documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Complete year-end payroll tasks including W-2 review and distribution.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance overall accounting divisional performance and efficiency.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Due to security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • 10 or more years of payroll and/or other related accounting experience.
  • 3 years end-to-end CostPoint IN-HOUSE payroll experience, from timesheet to year end process, including processing W-2, 940/941, and rollover balances/setup to next year.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll tax filing and payments experience without the use of a 3rd party provider for assistance.
  • Intermediate-level Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State payroll tax regulations.
  • High degree of integrity to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast pace environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Experience supporting government contracts in the Aerospace & Defense sector.
  • Hold payroll professional certifications (FPC, CPP, etc.).
  • Experience with multi-company payroll.
