What is remote dispute resolution?

A Remote Dispute Resolution job involves mediating conflicts, handling claims, or resolving disputes between parties through online platforms, emails, or virtual meetings. Professionals in this role may work in legal, financial, or customer service settings, helping clients settle disagreements without in-person interaction. The job requires strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Many roles involve working for companies, legal firms, or independent mediation services.

What skills and qualifications are needed for remote dispute resolution?

To thrive in Remote Dispute Resolution, you need strong analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and a background in conflict management or law, often supported by a degree or relevant certification such as ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution). Familiarity with mediation software, secure virtual meeting platforms (like Zoom or Microsoft Teams), and case management systems is typical in this role. Excellent written and verbal communication, impartiality, and active listening are essential soft skills for effective dispute resolution. These competencies ensure fair and efficient handling of disputes in virtual environments, maintaining professionalism and productive outcomes for all parties involved.

What are typical challenges faced in remote dispute resolution?

Professionals in remote dispute resolution often face challenges related to building rapport and trust between parties in a virtual setting, as non-verbal cues can be harder to interpret online. Technical issues, such as unstable internet connections and unfamiliarity with digital mediation tools, may also arise. Additionally, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all parties feel heard and respected can require extra attention when working remotely. However, with strong communication strategies and technical preparedness, these challenges are manageable and can even lead to more flexible, widely accessible resolution processes.

Job description

At Kompato AI, we are developing the first AI-powered, customer-centric financial services business. We're the first fully licensed AI-first debt collection agency-and we're already outperforming traditional agencies.
Working here will be a thrilling, challenging, and rewarding experience-ideal for those who have a track record of proven success and are ready to take their talents to an organization where they can do their best work and create lasting impacts. If you are driven, ambitious, and passionate about transforming financial services with AI, this is the place for you.
The Role
We are seeking a high-performing, results-driven Bilingual Collections Specialist with native Spanish language skills to join our team. You'll work with financially distressed consumers in both Spanish and English, helping them identify real solutions to regain control of their financial situation.
This isn't traditional collections. Our AI agents handle the majority of consumer interactions. You'll handle escalated cases-the ones that require human expertise, emotional intelligence, or regulatory compliance. Your bilingual ability is critical: you'll serve Spanish-speaking consumers who need human connection and navigate culturally sensitive financial conversations.
You'll handle:
  • Spanish and English-speaking consumers who request to speak with a person
  • Cases requiring human involvement by law or regulation
  • Complex payment arrangements and dispute resolution
  • Sensitive negotiations requiring cultural understanding and empathy

Your impact:
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Spanish-speaking consumers
  • Resolve the most challenging collection cases in our groundbreaking system
  • Provide feedback that improves our industry-leading AI platform
  • Ensure compliance and deliver best-in-class consumer experiences
  • Work remotely with a collaborative, high-performing team
Key Responsibilities
Collections & Relationship Management:
  • Contact consumers in Spanish and English to negotiate payment arrangements
  • Build trust-based relationships with Spanish-speaking consumers experiencing financial hardship
  • Proactively identify opportunities to resolve accounts and drive positive outcomes
  • Navigate cultural sensitivities around money, family obligations, and financial stress

Dispute & Issue Resolution:
  • Quickly and effectively resolve disputes and complaints in both languages
  • Handle escalated collection cases requiring expert judgment
  • Document all interactions thoroughly for compliance and quality assurance
  • Follow up diligently to ensure payment commitments are met

Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Maintain expert knowledge of FDCPA, TCPA, CFPB, and state-specific collection regulations
  • Ensure every interaction meets legal and compliance standards
  • Stay current on regulatory updates and AI-driven engagement strategies
  • Handle sensitive cases with precision-you're our compliance checkpoint

Team Collaboration & AI Improvement:
  • Provide feedback to improve AI agent performance with Spanish-speaking consumers
  • Share insights on cultural nuances that impact collection effectiveness
  • Contribute to strategies that enhance outcomes for bilingual consumers
  • Act as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence
What It Takes to Succeed
MUST HAVE:
Native or fluent Spanish speaker with professional-level English proficiency
5+ years proven collections experience in accounts receivable, debt collection, or consumer finance
Clean compliance record - no regulatory violations or disciplinary actions
Track record of meeting or exceeding collection goals and performance metrics
Deep knowledge of FDCPA, TCPA, and CFPB regulations
Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills in both Spanish and English
Ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy and persistence
Cultural competency working with diverse Latino communities (Mexican, Puerto Rican, Central American, etc.)
Proficiency with CRM systems, dialers, and omni-channel platforms
Self-motivated and accountable for remote work environment
Secure home office with reliable internet and private workspace
What We're Looking For:
  • Someone who genuinely wants to help consumers resolve their debts
  • High emotional intelligence to balance empathy with results
  • Confidence navigating objections and difficult financial conversations
  • Adaptability to work with AI technology and provide improvement feedback
  • Professional maturity and integrity in all consumer interactions
  • Drive to continuously improve performance and outcomes
What We Offer
Compensation:
  • Competitive salary (based on experience and location)
  • Performance bonuses tied to collection results
  • Full benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401k)

Work Setup:
  • Fully remote position
  • Equipment and technology provided
  • Flexible schedule within business hours
  • Professional development and compliance training

Growth & Impact:
  • Ground floor opportunity at the only fully licensed AI-first collection agency
  • Work with technology that's already outperforming traditional agencies
  • Be part of revolutionizing debt collection
  • Clear advancement opportunities as we scale
  • Make a real difference in consumers' financial lives
Who This Is For
This role is perfect for you if:
  • You have a proven track record in collections and want to level up
  • You're proud of your Spanish language skills and want them valued and compensated
  • You want to work with cutting-edge AI technology instead of outdated methods
  • You're comfortable working independently and remotely
  • You balance empathy with results - you genuinely help people while meeting goals
  • You want to be part of something innovative in financial services

This role is NOT for you if:
  • You don't have significant collections experience (we need proven performers)
  • You're not truly bilingual in Spanish and English
  • You have compliance issues or regulatory violations in your background
  • You need constant supervision or prefer office environments
  • You're skeptical about AI or prefer traditional collection methods
  • You're just looking for any remote job (this requires collections expertise)
Ready to Apply?
If you're an experienced collections professional with native Spanish skills ready to work at the forefront of AI-powered financial services, we want to hear from you.
Kompato AI is an equal opportunity employer. This role demands resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in collections.
