Department OverviewThe Field Engineering team plays a crucial role in enhancing public safety by deploying Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Applications, and Records Management Systems (RMS). They handle all on-premise hardware and equipment installations for government and municipal projects, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and promote efficient standardization and reuse.
Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and executing customer installation activities within tight timeframes.

  • Verifying the complete functionality and readiness of systems for software deployment.

  • Conducting routine system tasks like software updates, system upgrades, data backup/restoration, and initial troubleshooting.

  • Gaining a deep understanding of public safety customer environments to ensure optimal product security and reliability.

  • Demonstrating proficient software and IP networking skills, coupled with excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Deliver solutions that align with existing products, standard interfaces, and pre-defined limitations.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues across systems, networks, and infrastructure.

  • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.

  • Pinpoint product defects and track their resolution from the engineering phase through to customer acceptance.

  • Adhering to all corporate guidelines and completing required training.

  • Accurately logging billable hours for project work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of:Server Virtualization/Containerization, specifically with VMWare ESXi v.7+ and\or Red Hat OpenShift

  • Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2016\2019\2022

  • Server Operating Systems, specifically Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022

  • Workstation Operating Systems, specifically Windows 10, & 11 as well as Linux

  • Network LAN Switches, preferably HP Arista and Extreme Networks

  • Basic knowledge of Firewalls and Routers, preferably with Fortinet Fortigate

  • CompTIA Network+ Certification is preferred.

  • Previous experience in Public Safety Applications deployment and integration and/or operations and administration.

  • Exercises judgment in the selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with relevant peers and senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Travel is required (up to 50%) as project/business needs warrant.

Target Base Salary Range:$95,000 - $105,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • High School diploma, Associates, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, Software Engineering, or Technology.

  • 5+ years of Deployment and Integration of complex IP products and systems, or Public Safety.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
