We're seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong SQL Server experience to lead and support our most critical data systems. In this role, you'll design, implement, and continuously optimize high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions that ensure minimal downtime and zero data loss. As a trusted technical lead and primary escalation point, you'll partner across engineering and operations to solve complex challenges, drive performance improvements, and help shape the reliability and scalability of our database platforms.
Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for Oracle databases, including configuration, tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Proactively monitor system health, tune SQL queries, optimize indexes, and manage database configurations to prevent performance degradation.
  • Lead performance tuning and troubleshooting efforts, identifying bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions.
  • Design, implement, and support high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies, including Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always on Availability Groups and Failover clustering.
  • Deploy and upgrade multiple versions of Oracle (e.g., 12c, 19c) and Microsoft SQL Server on physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Implement robust security measures, manage user permissions, access controls, apply patches, and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure and operations to support data-driven initiatives.
  • Establish and test comprehensive backup strategies to guarantee rapid recovery from system failures or data corruption
  • Maintain documentation for Oracle data models, dictionaries, and configurations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship of fellow DBAs and contributes to strategic database planning

Technical Skills Required:
  • Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database architecture.
  • Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL (SQL Server), and PL/SQL (Oracle) for scripting and automation.
  • Understanding of underlying operating systems (Windows Server, Linux/Unix), networking, and storage technologies like ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
  • Experience with management consoles like SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), Azure Portal, and OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (Master's a plus).
  • 5+ years DBA experience in enterprise, 24/7 environments; 8+ years preferred for lead-level candidates.
  • Strong experience with both Oracle and SQL Server in high-volume, production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with RAC, Data Guard, Always On, clustering, and failover strategies.
  • Proven ability in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or similar).
  • Experience mentoring others, acting as an escalation point, and contributing to database strategy (for lead candidates).
  • OCP and/or Microsoft SQL Server/Azure certifications preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and ability to manage priorities in an on-call environment.
  • WMS or supply chain systems experience preferred; general understanding of distribution/logistics environments helpful.

Pay Range:
Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
$6,805.95 - $11,921.25
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
