Overview

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, multi-entity professional services organisation to appoint a Director of Accounting. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for standardising accounting practices, driving operational excellence across multiple entities, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.

The successful candidate will lead accounting operations across multiple entities and locations, improve close timelines, support post-acquisition integration, and enhance financial visibility for executive leadership. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with experience in multi-entity environments and a strong focus on process improvement and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the accounting operations across multiple legal entities
  • Drive month-end close processes with a target close timeline of Day 10
  • Standardise accounting policies, chart of accounts, and reporting frameworks across entities
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements
  • Oversee audit processes and coordinate with external auditors
  • Develop and manage rolling cash flow forecasts (minimum 8-week visibility)
  • Establish strong internal controls and financial governance
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including remote bookkeepers
  • Support integration of newly acquired entities, including system and process alignment
  • Partner with executive leadership to deliver clear, decision-ready financial insights
  • Identify and resolve reporting discrepancies, inefficiencies, and risk areas

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity accounting environments
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience overseeing month-end close processes in complex organisations
  • Proven ability to improve systems, controls, and reporting processes
  • Experience supervising and holding remote teams accountable
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation
  • Experience within professional services, architecture, engineering, or project-based industries
  • Experience in private equity-backed or acquisitive organisations
  • Direct experience integrating acquired entities
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership teams

Benefits

Base Salary: USD $90,000 - $135,000 per year (based on experience and location)
