Job Title: GIS Analyst / Specialist / Engineer

Job Summary:

Next Generation, Inc., an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking an experienced GIS Analyst/Specialist/Engineer to support our client's Enterprise Asset Management Value Realization Department. The role will provide technical and analytical support for GIS-driven asset management initiatives, data quality improvements, and rail engineering projects. This position is hybrid, with up to one remote day per week.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, configure, and support custom GIS applications and tools for asset management and transportation systems.
  • Perform geospatial and statistical analyses, integrating and transforming datasets to meet business needs.
  • Design, test, and maintain ESRI GIS environments (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, Server, Desktop, ArcPro, Experience Builder, Survey123 Connect).
  • Write and optimize code in Python and SQL for data management, analytics, and automation.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, GIS Maps) to visualize insights and KPIs.
  • Ensure accuracy, documentation, and reproducibility of all GIS deliverables.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate analytical results into actionable recommendations.
  • Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, programming languages, and spatial analysis methods.

Key Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of custom GIS development and asset management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with ESRI GIS software, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal/Server/Desktop, HeXagon, Microsoft Dynamics, SQL, and Python.
  • Preferably 2+ years supporting railroad or transit industry projects.
  • Strong programming and analytical skills (Python, SQL, R, or Java).
  • Expertise in database design, data quality control, and spatial analytics.
  • Experience with visualization and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Familiarity with transportation and transit systems, preferably large-scale networks.
  • Knowledge of KPI creation, data modeling, and reporting automation.

  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
