Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in North Carolina or Georgia.

The Senior Director of Fraud Strategy & Analytics is a senior leadership role responsible for directing the bank's fraud risk strategy, analytics, reporting, and loss management activities across consumer, commercial, and digital banking channels. This executive will lead the development and execution of the enterprise fraud strategy roadmap, oversee fraud performance management, drive data-driven decision making, and ensure fraud losses remain within board-approved risk appetite.

The role partners closely with Business Lines, Operations, Technology, Product, Risk Management, Finance, Compliance, and Executive Leadership to identify emerging threats, enhance fraud controls, optimize customer experience, and deliver sustainable reductions in fraud losses. The Senior Director will lead a high-performing team of fraud strategists, analysts, and risk professionals while providing thought leadership on industry trends, emerging fraud typologies, and control innovation.


Responsibilities

Fraud Reporting & Executive Governance

  • Establish and oversee a comprehensive fraud reporting framework across the enterprise.
  • Deliver executive, board, and regulatory reporting on fraud performance, key risk indicators, and emerging threats.
  • Develop and enhance fraud scorecards, dashboards, performance metrics, and management reporting.
  • Ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and transparency across all fraud disciplines.
  • Present fraud trends, strategic initiatives, and risk assessments to executive leadership and risk governance forums.

Loss Deconstruction & Root Cause Analytics

  • Lead enterprise fraud loss deconstruction efforts to identify underlying drivers, vulnerabilities, and control gaps.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to quantify loss sources across products, channels, attack vectors, and customer journeys.
  • Translate analytical insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Establish methodologies for measuring fraud control effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Drive fact-based prioritization of risk mitigation initiatives.

Fraud Controls & Strategy Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen fraud controls while balancing customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of fraud strategies, rules, authentication controls, and decisioning frameworks.
  • Partner with Fraud Operations and Technology teams to improve detection capabilities and fraud prevention effectiveness.
  • Oversee control testing, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging fraud technologies.

Business Line Partnership

  • Serve as the primary fraud strategy partner to consumer banking, payments, cards, digital banking, commercial banking, and other business leaders.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to evaluate fraud risks associated with new products, services, and strategic initiatives.
  • Influence investment decisions and prioritization of fraud mitigation initiatives.
  • Balance risk management objectives with customer, revenue, and growth considerations.
  • Build strong relationships across the enterprise to ensure alignment on fraud priorities and outcomes.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fraud strategy, analytics, and reporting professionals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
