  • You will work on engineering projects and availabilities as assigned, including preparing engineering documents.
  • You will complete engineering audits and evaluations.
  • You will be responsible for the engineering aspects involved in the development, design, installation, test, and performance of systems and equipment.
  • You will review planned work, in progress and completed, to ensure integration of the most recent and desirable engineering features.
  • You will maintain scientific/engineering programs and other documentation that pertains to them.
  • You will direct, train and/or coordinate efforts required to complete engineering and facilities projects.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1.) Ability to obtain engineering decisions to effect timely, technically adequate and cost-effective resolution of problems. 2.) Plan for projects, by determining facilities, equipment, material, numbers, and kinds of shop personnel required. 3.) Estimating labor and material costs and preparing job order specifications assigning work to shops or codes in accordance with requirements. 4.) Ability to investigate problems related to work performed by other Shipyard engineering and support groups. 5.) High skill level with database systems (Access or Excel).
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.
Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
  • Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
  • Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
