The Role: Strategic National Account Development Director

Location Preference: This is a US-Remote position; however, candidates located in the Eastern or Central United States are preferred due to proximity to key customer markets, dealer associations, and travel requirements

Position Summary: The Strategic National Account Development Director (SNADD) creates business relationships with accounts identified as strategic to the company's success. Targeting specific competitive circumstances, the SNADD's primary responsibility is to grow new market share through conquest sales of accounts that process EVR transactions in multiple jurisdictions, maintain dealership endorsements with existing auto dealer associations, and cultivating relationships to acquire new auto dealer association endorsements from states and large regional dealer associations.

This role is expected to work in conjunction with all channel partners including Account Sales Executives (ASE), Regional Sales Executives (RSE), Enterprise Account Directors (EAD), Modern Retail Sales Executives (MRSE), Account Development Executives (ADE) and their directors, to increase sales opportunities of CDK Global's strategic portfolio of products. Achieve annual assigned sales plan, working under guidance of the VP/General Manager of CVR.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Drive new business growth by building, strengthening, and influencing relationships with National Automotive Dealers and key industry stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with existing Automotive Dealer Associations, ensuring continued engagement, advocacy, and endorsement.
  • Expand market influence by securing new endorsements and partnership agreements with State and Regional Automotive Dealer Associations.
  • Generate and develop qualified sales opportunities through proactive prospecting, outreach, and engagement within competitive accounts.
  • Identify, assess, and capitalize on market growth opportunities to expand revenue, market share, and customer penetration.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans that support both short-term objectives and long-term business growth targets.
  • Own revenue and profitability performance, delivering measurable growth through a disciplined, consultative, and process-driven sales approach.
  • Establish and execute against clear performance metrics to consistently achieve or exceed assigned sales quotas and business objectives.
  • Partner effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless customer experience throughout the sales, contracting, implementation, and onboarding processes.
  • Maintain deep industry expertise, including market trends, customer needs, regulatory considerations, and competitive activity.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of AVRS, CVR, and CDK solutions, articulating value propositions and aligning offerings to customer business needs.
  • Represent the organization professionally and consistently in all customer, partner, and industry interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with all CDK Global policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all required compliance training, certifications, and acknowledgments within established deadlines.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance expectations across revenue, customer engagement, operational, and compliance objectives.

Required Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 7+ years of outside sales and business development experience selling complex products, services, or technology solutions
  • Demonstrated success developing new business opportunities and expanding market share within assigned territories or target accounts
  • Experience utilizing a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and align solutions to business needs
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence decision-makers, and navigate complex sales cycles
  • Experience negotiating and closing large-scale opportunities with senior executives and key stakeholders
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling abilities, with the ability to communicate value to diverse audiences
  • Results-oriented with a demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Highly organized with strong time management, prioritization, and territory planning skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 50-75% based on business needs

  • Experience working within an automotive dealership environment or selling solutions into the automotive retail industry
  • Experience selling enterprise software, SaaS, or technology-enabled business solutions

Salary: $160,000 + Commissions
