Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Regional Direct Bill Accountant to support the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of direct bill commission revenue across assigned agencies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency by partnering with agency teams, carriers, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and able to manage high-volume financial data in a fast-paced environment.
Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, fully remote position.
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Retrieve and manage commission statements from insurance carriers via portals, email, and mail, coordinating with internal teams to resolve missing or delayed statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of direct bill commissions using internal systems or outsourced partners.
  • Post and reconcile commission downloads, import files, and direct bill statements to client accounts and the general ledger.
  • Record commission receipts from checks and electronic deposits, ensuring accurate matching to corresponding statements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between the general ledger and posted commission activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor daily bank activity to confirm all direct bill commissions are recorded and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
  • Collaborate with client service teams to investigate and resolve reconciliation issues and posting exceptions.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved discrepancies to leadership, providing clear documentation and analysis.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within an insurance brokerage environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience reconciling financial data, including general ledger accounts and commission activity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with large data sets and pivot tables.
  • Experience with accounting and agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, Business Central, BenefitPoint) preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.

Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year depending on experience.
*A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
