Elementary School Teacher

Full-Time | Remote (United States)

Position Title: Elementary School Teacher

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM EST

Location: Remote – work from anywhere in the U.S. with reliable internet. Applicants must not reside in the Pacific Coast area.

Reports To: Elementary Team Leader

Pay Rate: Starting at $23.72/hour (Bachelor’s Degree and Michigan Standard Certification)

Position Summary

The Elementary School Teacher promotes student success in an online learning environment through regular, scheduled interactions. This role serves as the primary weekly contact for students, ensures they have access to necessary technology, and monitors their progress across various platforms. The teacher also maintains a detailed online activity log and engages students through multiple communication channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly Zoom sessions with students as the primary method of contact, counting toward mandatory student and parent contacts.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations and guidelines to students and their families.
  • Be available during scheduled working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST, to support student learning.
  • Help each student build and follow an educational development plan that keeps them progressing toward their goals.
  • Monitor student progress and provide academic support—including referrals to Academic Tutors—to ensure students stay on pace toward grade-level goals.
  • Grade assignments and update grades each semester.
  • Ensure students complete required assessments in Exact Path three times per year.
  • Host virtual field trips and monthly virtual lunch sessions to enhance student engagement.
  • Address technical issues and coordinate with the tech support team to resolve them.
  • Maintain regular communication with team leaders and participate in mandatory team and individual meetings.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification. If not currently in Michigan, must obtain a Michigan certificate within 3 months of hire.
  • Experience in virtual teaching and managing an online classroom.
  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with digital educational platforms such as Zoom, Exact Path, Seesaw, and Edmentum for digital curriculum.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple educational activities simultaneously.

Work Environment

This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the United States with a reliable internet connection, excluding the Pacific Coast area. MVA provides a laptop and monitor to set you up for success. This is a full-time position with set working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM EST, and the role emphasizes staying connected and engaged throughout these hours through regular virtual meetings and check-ins with students, families, and team members. Staff must be available from the start of summer training through the last district end date.
