Job description

Position Title: COBOL Developer
Location: Minneapolis, MN - Remote
Duration: 06 Month contract (possible extension)
Pay rate: $68-74 Per Hour on W2

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Developer to support and enhance mission-critical legacy systems that power our transportation operations. This role focuses on maintaining and modernizing high-availability mainframe applications used for scheduling, billing, freight movement, asset tracking, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate understands both COBOL-based systems and the operational realities of transportation environments. 

Who we are looking for / Requirements:

  • 7+ years of professional experience developing in COBOL 
  • Experience supporting high-volume batch processing systems 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to support production systems with minimal downtime 

Performance Objectives / What you'll be doing:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications supporting transportation and logistics functions 
  • Support systems related to: 
  • Freight and shipment processing 
  • Ticketing, billing, and invoicing 
  • Scheduling and routing 
  • Asset, fleet tracking 
  • Regulatory and compliance reporting 
  • Debug, test, and resolve production issues in a 24x7 operational environment 
  • Collaborate with business analysts and operations teams to translate requirements into technical solutions 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and program specifications 
  • Ensure systems meet security, audit, and regulatory standards
