We're looking for a Region Line Engineer who is eager to build a rewarding engineering career while making a direct impact on the reliability of our electric system.

What You'll Do

As a Region Line Engineer, you'll support the planning, design, maintenance, and reliability of our electric distribution system. Working closely with the Region Line Manager, field crews, and engineering teams, you'll help ensure our members receive safe, dependable electric service every day.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the planning and coordination of regional line operations.
  • Provide engineering support for distribution system improvements and new construction.
  • Analyze power quality and system reliability while helping develop solutions.
  • Coordinate work with internal crews, contractors, and Distribution Designers.
  • Assist with safety initiatives, audits, investigations, and employee training.
  • Review engineering reports and recommend improvements to system performance.
  • Utilize Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) data to improve reliability.
  • Prepare switching procedures and support emergency restoration efforts.
  • Collaborate with System Engineering to implement projects that improve our electrical system.
  • Help deliver outstanding service to our members by supporting safe, efficient operations.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems and engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with field operations and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
  • Experience with electric utility distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and RUS standards.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.

Work Environment

  • This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position based in our Yadkin River Region. Occasional remote work opportunities are available.
  • Because our members rely on us around the clock, this position participates in emergency response efforts and engineering on-call rotations. Candidates must be available to respond during storms and other emergency situations.

Residency Requirement: Employees in this operational role must establish and maintain a residence within a 25-mile radius of their assigned regional office.
