Remote desktop support engineers may also guide others through installing hardware, but the remote nature of this job limits your ability to install it yourself. Desktop support engineers frequently apply updates and security fixes, teach users how to use new software, respond to emergency problems, and use a variety of techniques and systems to resolve problems. You often use the telephone, email, and live chat software to communicate with other employees, and you may use remote access software to control a distant computer or server directly.
