Role: VMware Consultant
Location: Remote
Duration: 6+ Months
US Citizens Only
DESCRIPTION:
Virtual Desktop Engineer to support client's VDI operations and projects. This includes the following responsibilities & technologies areas:
Proficient with VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix DaaS, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows Operating Systems.
Candidate must also be diligent with the creation of technical documentation and able to present internally to customers, peers and leaders.
IDEAL BACKGROUND:
Working in a Healthcare or Government Virtualized environment would be ideal or experience with large IT infrastructure (20k+ virtual machine deployment).
TOP REQUIREMENTS:
  • Two years+ configuring scalable and highly available infrastructure for persistent and non-persistent VDI
  • Three years+ Supporting Desktop OS along with security tools and third party agents
  • Three years+ Managing golden images for VDI/Citrix
  • Three years+ Supporting and upgrading VMware Suite of products

*** What experience will set candidates apart from one another?
  • Virtualization experience including VMWare vSphere, VMware Aria Operations, VMware vRealize Orchestrator, Azure Cloud, Microsoft Server and Microsoft Windows 10/11
  • Proficient use of orchestration and scripting tools; GitHub, Jenkins, Hashicorp Packer and Terraform. PowerShell/PowerCLI, JSON, Python.
  • Strong experience with Infratsructure Automation and Operations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage a Multi-Pod VMware Horizon Infrastructure.
  • Support modern Windows 10/11 golden images for all VDI environments
  • Support patching and application updates
  • Work with the VDI team to refine and implement logging, alerting, and monitoring
  • Communicate effectively with Service Reliability Engineers and DevOps team

Candidate will be working on a team of 10+ VDI Dev-Ops engineers
Required skills/attributes:
  • Energetic self-starter with a positive/flexible attitude
  • Hungry to learn technology in Healthcare IT
  • Proficient use of scripting technologies (PowerShell, PowerCLI)
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Communication at all levels and the ability to write strong technical documentation
  • Experience with Logging & Monitoring tools such as Grafana, or an equivalent

Preferred skills/attributes:
  • Certifications: VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization, VMware Advanced Professional - Desktop Management Design, Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
