Responsibilities

This role is a Business Systems Developer on the NWN ServiceNow platform team. The team is responsible for ServiceNow platform operations and support, and ongoing enhancements and new capability implementations for business optimization and workflow automation. 

The ServiceNow platform is used to deliver and manage customer-facing services while also supporting internal service operations.

While the platform primarily supports internal team users responsible for managing services delivered to customers, it is also leveraged to provide customer users access to platform capabilities which help them manage their services.

As a Business Systsems Developer you will ensure sound enterprise wide integration solutions that are critical to continued business success. Responsible for in depth understanding of enterprise technology systems, business processes, and various enterprise integration technologies across our Business Systems Operations (BSO). This role will address challenges of systems integration, compatibility, security vulnerabilities, and multiple platforms to drive workforce automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support ServiceNow platform operations, including platform support, ongoing enhancements, and new capability implementations for business optimization and workflow automation.
  • Follow SDLC process using Agile methodology, policies and procedures related to design, analysis, testing, and coding for implementations on the platform.
  • Adhere to security policy, including data governance and role-based access controls.
  • Innovates using the latest technologies to create best in class experiences for our customers.
  • Designs and implements reusable components and features by writing quality code.
  • Data integration and workflow design.
  • Script development, configuration and customization.
  • Consult with project team and end users to identify business requirements.
  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration, and testing tools.
  • Assure technical architecture aligns with the customer's functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Advise on architectural strategies and best practice approaches.
  • Provide regular updates of project, enhancement progress, and outstanding issues.
  • Participate in the design and planning of projects, development cycle, and triage remediation in conjunction with the external partners, other Business Systems Operations (BSO) members, and business users
  • Assist with troubleshooting activities in conjunction with BSO/CAB team members. Review system requirements and cross application impact for installing patches/fixes provided in accordance with change control process.
  • Works on an agile team with short release cycles.
  • Contribute to team development through support and education in a collaborative environment with remote team members and peer.
  • Train and mentor peers with less experience and assist with the resolution of issues elevated from support staff.
  • Comply with all BSO and corporate policies and procedures, verify that deliverables meet BSO and business requirements.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or similar relevant field. Required
  • 3+ years' experience with programming languages such as JavaScript required.  Programming experience in other languages would be considered.
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript with a strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals such as prototype inheritance, composition, CommonJS/AMD module systems using RequireJS.
  • SQL query language, database architecture and command-line syntax.
  • Extensive HTML/CSS coding experience, CSS compiler knowledge.
  • Proficient level computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and desire to skill up on new technology and capabilities.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and follow SDLC.
  • Understanding of ITIL best practices.
  • Experience in B2B managed services beneficial. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to consistently and cogently address our customers' needs.
  • ServiceNow experience preferred but not required with similar enterprise platform development experience in Agile environment following SDLC, and a willingness and appetite to learn.
  • ServiceNow application module experience with domain separation, Customer Service Management (CSM), Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), TPSM Order Management, Customer Success, CSDM, CMDB beneficial.
  • Self-motivated, ability to prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
