Remote designers are creative professionals who work from locations outside of a traditional office environment, often from home or anywhere with an internet connection. They use digital tools to create visual content such as websites, graphics, user interfaces, and branding materials. Remote designers collaborate with clients and teams online, using communication platforms and project management tools. This flexible work setup allows them to work with clients globally and maintain a better work-life balance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Designer, and why are they important?

Job description

Intermediate Workplace Designer | Corporate Interiors | 4โ€“7 Years | NYC

A NYC corporate and commercial interiors studio is adding an Intermediate Designer to its workplace practice. This role runs the full design phase from concept through construction, supporting design leadership across a varied book of corporate projects. The right person is technically sharp, detail-driven, and ready to own scope rather than sit in production.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare scope and budget documentation for analysis.
  • Coordinate design requirements across clients, consultants, and the project team.
  • Organize, prepare, and present in client design presentations.
  • Select, present, and specify furniture, finishes, and accessories.
  • Manage furniture bid documents, analyze dealer responses, and review specifications.
  • Assemble design development packages into construction documents, including millwork and special construction details.
  • Review engineering documents, shop drawings, and submittals against design intent.
  • Visit the project site during construction.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 7 years of continuous design experience in corporate, commercial, or workplace interiors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, plus Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to produce photo-realistic renderings in Enscape and AI-driven software.
  • Experience specifying systems and ancillary furniture.
  • Working command of schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • A detail-oriented mindset and the ability to run multiple projects in a fast-paced studio.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

What the studio offers

  • Full project lifecycle exposure, so you build a portfolio that reaches past space planning into specification, documentation, and site work
  • Close work with the Creative Director and direct client time, the path this level needs to grow into a Project Designer track
  • A modern tech stack with AI-driven rendering already in the workflow

Compensation: $85,000 to $110,000, based on relevant experience, qualifications, skill set, and location. Schedule: Full time, 4 days in office plus 1 remote day Location: New York office
