Senior Research Manager

Glass

Chicago, IL • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 8 days ago

Job description

Who We Are:
Glass is a small, growing market research company (start-up). We aim to be the sweet spot between the flexibility of a user-friendly DIY survey platform and the professional expertise found in traditional full-service research agencies.
Our proprietary survey platform allows customers complete visibility into their projects and the ability to own as much, or as little, of each project as they like. This same platform allows our research team to conduct high-quality research in a way that's cost and time efficient.
We're a values-based business. Our team represents a group who:
- Puts Customers first
- Cares about people (both our customers and each other!)
- Embodies a "glass half full" mindset
- Demonstrates a team over self attitude
- Lives with a bias towards action
- Believes fun and high-quality work are not at odds
The Team:
This Sr. Research Manager role is part of our Research team.
This team is made-up of research experts. Our Research Directors bring a mix of supplier-side and client-side research experience- each truly industry veterans and experts.
And we know from experience that clients want expertise at all phases of engagement with a research firm, so we aren't about keeping our researchers behind the scenes. Our research team owns the role of customer service and success- meaning they need to be equally comfortable heads-down in the data as they are participating in a client meeting or presentation.
The Role:
We're looking for a high-performing Sr. Research Manager to support, and in some cases own, project execution from start to finish. Your work product will include designing/programming surveys, collecting, checking and analyzing data, as well as crafting reports telling a cohesive story. Partner internally to complete work in a timely manner. Work with clients directly to understand their needs and then work to deliver them.
You'll support our Research Directors and Sr. Directors in delivering quality work to clients. While you'll support the work of multiple Directors, you will have one Sr. Director to whom you report directly.
As part of a small, growing team, you'll have the unique opportunity to see a wide variety of product categories, industry types, and be involved in all facets of the research process. Based on your experience and talent, you will also be given opportunities to lead creation of research processes and infrastructure.
This is a unique opportunity to help build a company as you build your career. You'll have a hand in various cross-functional efforts and a voice in who we are and how we grow. You'll also be working directly with highly experienced research leaders, with no lack of development opportunities.
This role is fully remote. Our Head of Research and many of the team members are based in Chicago, so team members in the Chicagoland area have in-person working opportunities.
Who You Are:
You're a strong researcher who is at your core a team player. You enjoy rolling-up your sleeves and working collaboratively to achieve. We help clients make big decisions quickly, but never without tremendous thought and analysis. You're able to shift nimbly between being in the details and seeing the bigger picture to help make that happen.
You appreciate strategic, high-quality research and determining the 'what' and 'why.' You're not afraid of numbers and a good spreadsheet. You like making data actionable and appreciate great data visualization.
What You'll Do:
Lead the process of translating research design into execution through survey programming, field management, and quality control for a diverse portfolio of projects
Be a client-facing member of the team- attend client calls and meetings (Zoom), support client communication
Own all project phases (with the support of your Account Director) for a small number of identified projects
Support Account Directors across other study phases and needs as they arise, which might include (but not be limited to) things like:
  • Helping draft research proposals and client contracts
  • Translating study design into a survey via our proprietary platform
  • Programming online surveys in our proprietary platform
  • Ensuring high quality fielding in partnership with our network of sample providers
  • Cleaning and balancing survey data
  • Processing and tabulating survey data using the Glass platform
  • Designing tables and report deliverables with the client end-goals in mind.
  • Keeping projects on-track to meet client timelines
  • Attending client calls, meetings and/or presentations (virtually on Zoom)
  • Supplier relationship management
  • Work with our Tech Team to improve, refine, build the Glass platform's capabilities and the respondent and user experience
  • Support a growing business and the diverse needs of startup life! These needs are always evolving, which should be exciting to you. You're ready to roll-up your sleeves and jump-in as a key member of the team.

Key Skills:
  • Highly motivated
  • Curious
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Timeline and deadline oriented
  • Customer and service oriented
  • Analytically driven
  • Ability to oversee many projects in multiple stages at the same time
  • Digitally proficient

Requirements
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Psychology, or related field; or relevant work experience equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in quantitative market research (at least 1 year of supplier side research preferred), with additional experience in qualitative approaches welcome
  • Strong in Microsoft Office products (mainly Powerpoint and Excel)
  • Proficient in Google suite products (Gmail, Drive)
  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Experience in survey programming platform(s) (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Alchemer)
  • Experience with general AI platforms (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini)
  • Experience with research-related AI platforms a plus
  • Experience with SPSS, R, Q and/ or Displayr a plus
  • Experience in advanced analytics a plus
  • Ability to work from home or a co-working space that allows for focused, productive work during working hours and a professional environment for daily client video calls
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills required
