The National Safety Council is America's leading nonprofit safety advocate. We focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths. Through leadership, research, education, and advocacy, NSC focuses on areas where most unintentional injuries and deaths occur.
We are currently looking for a Research Associateto join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries.
Position Highlights:
The Research Associate contributes to NSC's research agenda by advancing evaluation efforts, supporting grant-funded initiatives, maintaining data quality and integrity, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice. Conducts applied research, evaluation, and data analysis activities that support evidence-based programs, organizational learning, and continuous improvement initiatives. Designs and executes components of research studies and program evaluations; collects, analyzes, and interprets quantitative and qualitative data; and develops accurate, actionable findings for a variety of stakeholders. Collaborates with program staff, subject matter experts, and leadership to identify research needs, evaluate outcomes, and inform strategic decision-making.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, plan, and execute research studies, program evaluations, and assessment activities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical and analytical techniques.
  • Interpret research findings and identify trends, patterns, insights, and opportunities for program improvement.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, dashboards, and other deliverables that communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical information into actionable recommendations that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable research standards, policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure research activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, technical reports, publications, and other research-related documentation.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and facilitate discussions regarding implications and next steps.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying evaluation findings and research insights to enhance organizational effectiveness and program impact.
We're Looking for Someone with:
  • Master's degree in research, public health, sociology, psychology, EHS, or related field and 3+ years relevant research experience.
  • in place of a Master's Degree, a Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant research experience
  • Familiarity with applied research and evaluation methods
  • Experience using statistical and/or qualitative analysis software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with moderate guidance
  • This is a remote position.
