We are hiring a Fintech Software Engineer into our growing technical team. The Fintech Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-performance, scalable software solutions in the financial technology domain. The role focuses on building secure, reliable payment systems, integrating financial services, and enhancing the user experience through seamless APIs and backend infrastructure. The role also involves owning a subset of the platform and driving its development, maintenance and ongoing improvement.


POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Software Development: Own the architecture for a significant component or collection of services. Develop, and maintain financial software solutions with a strong emphasis on payment systems, transaction processing, and integration of financial services. Establishing oneself as a go-to resource for specific components or architectural areas.

● API Design and Development: Design and build scalable, secure, and efficient APIs for customer-facing and internal financial services, with a focus on reliability, performance, and data security.

● Backend Engineering: Develop distributed backend systems with high-availability, fault tolerance, and security, using technologies like Node.js, TypeScript, and event-driven architecture.

● Collaboration & Agile Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, design, and operations to deliver features, meet deadlines, and ensure smooth releases in an Agile environment.

● Monitoring and Support: Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using AWS CloudWatch and other relevant tools. Monitor system performance and ensure optimal resource utilization.

● Incident Management and Resolution: Respond to system incidents, diagnose issues, and resolve them promptly. Perform post-mortem analyses of incidents to prevent future occurrences.

● System Integration: Design and implement integrations with third-party financial services and payment gateways (e.g., ACH, credit card processing, digital wallets)

● Code Quality and Testing: Ensure high-quality code through automated testing, peer reviews, and continuous integration practices. Champion coding standards and best practices across the team.

● Security and Compliance: Ensure systems comply with security policies and industry standards like PCI-DSS.

● Product Improvement: Be able to solve problems involving complex sets of requirements and translating them into implementable plans. Lead the effort to implement these plans to improve our fintech products, enhancing performance, security, and scalability as the company grows.

● Customer-Centric Solutions: Collaborate with leaders on the product team to develop strategic software solutions that address customer needs, ensuring a seamless user experience across all financial services and APIs.

● Additional Responsibilities: Support broader engineering initiatives and adapt to the dynamic priorities of a high-growth startup. Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisor and/or Management.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE):

Education:

● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

● 5+ years of experience in software development with a focus on financial technology and payments.

● Proven experience building scalable, secure software solutions and APIs for high-transaction systems.

● Experience working in fast-paced, startup environments is a plus.

Skills:

● Strong programming proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, or similar languages.

● Experience designing and implementing APIs, backend systems, and microservices architectures.

● Familiarity with cloud services (AWS experience preferred) for building and scaling software applications.

● Understanding of software security, encryption, and compliance standards in fintech (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC2).
