Job description

The Compliance Engineer (CE) will guide the Defense Engineering team to comply with product development standards as defined by the US Military. Successful candidates will have experience with MIL-DTL-917 / MIL-E-917E / MIL-E-917F. The CE will be the focal point, confirming that our new military products are ready to transition through the preliminary (PDR) and critical design reviews (CDR). They will work across internal business functions (e.g.,Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to ensure that new products adhere to military standards as defined by the scope of work. In many cases, the CE will interface directly with their counterparts among the US Ship Builders and the Navy to communicate product compliance, manufacturability, traceability, and performance. The CE will have a technical background and will have experience explaining MIL-E-917E/ MIL-E-917F to product development engineers.

General Responsibilities

  • Develops and handles product compliance strategies, policies and processes to ensure that the company's products meet regulatory standards
  • Works closely with regulatory agencies and is the technical subject matter expert for regulatory compliance.
  • Leads product design reviews.
  • Ensures end-to-end compliance through targeted guidance and training.
  • May assist in the development of testing tools and product test plans to ensure effective compliance testing.
  • Coordinates both internal testing and testing at outside labs, certification labs and maintains all documentation

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Additional Qualifications

  • Experiencewith MIL-DTL-917 / MIL-E-917E/ MIL-E-917F forhigh power electricalequipment

  • Strong working knowledge of related military specifications includingMIL-STD-1310 (shipboard grounding/bonding), MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC), and MIL-S-901E (high-impact shock)

  • Expertisewith ITARincluding data security protocols Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Technical Control Plans (TCPs)and themanagement ofcontrolled unclassified information (CUI)

  • Understanding of supplier andcomponentcompliance requirements(DFARS)thatdictate the acquisition ofprocuredraw materials, fabricated components,treatedmaterials, and associated data management& archivalmethods(traceability).

  • Past experienceguiding products throughthe military'spreliminary (PDR) and critical (CDR) design reviews.

  • Strong grasp of material management methods includingmaterialtraceability and partnon-conformance/partdeviation management methods

  • Background in guiding product development teams through theMilitary's product development process(MIL-DTL-917).This includes providing training to engineers on how best tocomply withthe design process.

  • Ability to travel roughly 5-10%

Base Salary Range:

$98,800.00- 148,200.00 USD Annual
