What is a remote deep learning engineer?

A Remote Deep Learning job involves working with artificial intelligence and machine learning models, particularly using deep neural networks, from a location outside a traditional office, often from home. Professionals in this field design, build, and optimize algorithms that enable computers to learn from large amounts of data. They often work on projects such as image and speech recognition, natural language processing, or autonomous systems. The remote aspect allows flexibility and access to global opportunities, but requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate virtually with teams.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote deep learning engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Deep Learning Engineer, you need strong programming skills in Python, a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, and typically a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Proficiency with frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, as well as cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud, is essential, and certifications in these technologies can be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and clear communication are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and project delivery. These skills ensure effective development, deployment, and maintenance of deep learning models while working independently in distributed teams.

What are common challenges faced by remote deep learning engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote deep learning engineers often encounter challenges such as limited access to high-performance computing resources, communication barriers with distributed teams, and difficulties in collaborating on large codebases or datasets. These issues can be mitigated by leveraging cloud-based platforms for scalable computing, using clear communication tools like Slack or Zoom for regular check-ins, and employing version control systems like Git for collaborative code management. Proactively setting up workflows and documentation helps ensure smooth collaboration and project continuity within a remote environment.

What is the difference between Remote Deep Learning vs Remote Machine Learning Engineer?

AspectRemote Deep LearningRemote Machine Learning Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's/Master's in CS, AI, or related; experience with neural networksBachelor's/Master's in CS, Data Science, or related; experience with algorithms and data modeling
Work EnvironmentCollaborative teams, research-focused, often in tech or AI companiesDevelopment teams, data-driven projects, across various industries
Employer & Industry UsageTech firms, AI startups, research institutionsTech companies, finance, healthcare, e-commerce

Remote Deep Learning specialists focus on designing and training neural networks for AI applications, often requiring advanced knowledge of deep neural architectures. Remote Machine Learning Engineers work on developing algorithms and models for broader data analysis and predictive tasks. While both roles involve machine learning, deep learning emphasizes neural networks, whereas machine learning engineers may work with a variety of algorithms across industries.

Job description

Location: Remote (Europe)

How You'll Make an Impact:

As a Staff Software Engineer in Revenue Intelligence, you will shape the technical direction of systems that help hospitality businesses understand demand, identify revenue opportunities, and make better pricing and commercial decisions. You will work across customer-facing applications, backend services, data pipelines, analytical stores, recommendation workflows, and cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will solve complex engineering problems directly while establishing architecture, improving reliability and security, reducing systemic technical debt, and aligning multiple teams around durable technical decisions. Your impact will extend beyond individual features to the quality, scalability, operability, and long-term evolution of the Revenue Intelligence platform.

Our Revenue Intelligence Team:

The Revenue Intelligence team builds products and platforms that turn hospitality data into practical decisions for hoteliers, including pricing recommendations, demand insights, reporting, automation, and commercial opportunities. Our systems span frontend experiences, APIs, distributed services, data processing, machine-learning workflows, and production infrastructure. We value pragmatic engineering, strong ownership, evidence-based decisions, and technical leaders who raise the effectiveness of the people and systems around them.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Set and evolve the technical strategy for Revenue Intelligence, translating product and business goals into coherent architecture and executable engineering plans
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex capabilities across customer-facing web applications, backend APIs, event-driven services, data pipelines, analytical storage, and recommendation workflows
  • Identify and resolve systemic risks in scalability, reliability, security, data quality, observability, and operability before they become recurring customer or engineering problems
  • Drive modernization of legacy systems and infrastructure through incremental, well-reasoned migrations that preserve delivery momentum and production stability
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, Infrastructure, Security, and engineering leaders to define boundaries, contracts, ownership, and long-term platform direction
  • Remain hands-on in the codebase through implementation, technical spikes, design reviews, debugging, incident response, and the most consequential or ambiguous engineering work
  • Raise the technical effectiveness of the wider organization through mentoring, architecture guidance, engineering standards, documentation, and constructive challenge

What Sets You Up for Success:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership across complex production systems
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Python, with the ability to work effectively across both ecosystems and guide engineering decisions beyond a single language
  • Strong architecture and distributed-systems fundamentals, including API design, event-driven workflows, consistency, failure handling, scalability, and service boundaries
  • Experience with data-intensive systems such as PostgreSQL, Redshift or similar analytical platforms, batch and streaming pipelines, and large-scale data processing
  • Experience designing or operating recommendation systems, machine-learning platforms, pricing systems, experimentation workflows, or other decision-support products
  • Strong cloud and platform engineering experience across AWS, containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Argo CD, CI/CD, observability, and secure production operations
  • A demonstrated ability to lead through influence, create alignment across teams, communicate complex tradeoffs clearly, and drive decisions from ambiguity to execution
  • A strong record of improving engineering quality through testing strategy, operational readiness, incident learning, security, documentation, and sustainable technical standards
  • Product judgment and customer empathy, with the ability to connect technical investments to measurable outcomes for hoteliers and the business
  • Business-level English fluency and experience collaborating effectively in a remote, globally distributed organization

Bonus Skills to Stand Out:

  • Deep hands-on expertise in .NET/C#
