What is a Remote Database job?

A Remote Database job involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing databases from a remote location. Professionals in this role handle data security, performance tuning, backups, and troubleshooting without being physically present at the organization's site. Remote database administrators (DBAs) and developers use cloud-based tools and VPNs to access and manage databases securely. This job requires expertise in database management systems (DBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB. It offers flexibility, but strong communication skills and reliable internet connectivity are essential for success.

What are the typical responsibilities and daily tasks for a Remote Database role?

In a Remote Database position, your daily responsibilities often include monitoring database performance, running backups, managing user access, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing queries for efficiency. You may also be tasked with implementing security measures, applying updates and patches, and supporting data migration or integration projects. Collaboration with developers, IT support, and sometimes business analysts via virtual meetings and project management tools is common. This role requires proactive communication and strong documentation skills to ensure smooth workflows and maintain the reliability of critical data systems. By managing these key tasks, you help support an organization's digital infrastructure from anywhere.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Database position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Database professional, you should have strong skills in database management, SQL and/or NoSQL query languages, backup and recovery procedures, and relevant educational or certification backgrounds such as a degree in computer science or certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate. Familiarity with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, and cloud database platforms is commonly required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and self-motivation are important soft skills since the role is remote and often requires independent work. These qualifications are crucial for ensuring efficient database performance, data integrity, and success while collaborating virtually with technical teams.

Oracle GoldenGate Solution Engineer

ImagineX Consulting

Atlanta, GA • Remote

Full-time

Posted 3 days ago

Job description

ImagineX is a tech company that deploys AI-assisted teams to build and secure mission-critical enterprise solutions with our clients – spanning software, data, and AI. Structured like a software company, not a traditional consultancy, we blend deep technical expertise with authentic values, achieving world-class satisfaction (NPS 91). Our dedicated teams specialize in software, data, and AI across the U.S. and LATAM, bridging the gap between boutique agility and enterprise scale.

We’re seeking an Oracle GoldenGate Solution Engineer who can design, operationalize, and support enterprise-grade CDC pipelines across heterogeneous environments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex data ecosystems, understands the nuances of real-time data movement, and can partner across teams to deliver resilient, scalable integration patterns. You’ll play a key role in modernizing data flows, enabling real-time analytics, and strengthening enterprise data platforms.  This is a 100% remote full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operationalize CDC pipelines using Oracle GoldenGate to support near real-time data movement across platforms (e.g., DB2, Oracle → Snowflake, Kafka, Iceberg).
  • Configure and manage GoldenGate Extract, Replicat, and Trail processes across z/OS, distributed systems, and cloud environments.
  • Administer and support GoldenGate environments (on-prem and AWS), ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and platform stability across dev/test/prod.
  • Monitor CDC pipelines and proactively troubleshoot replication issues, including latency, failures, and data consistency gaps; execute restarts, backfills, and replays.
  • Collaborate with DBA, Data Platform, Infrastructure, and Security teams to onboard new pipelines, manage dependencies, and align with enterprise data priorities.
  • Support full pipeline lifecycle activities: environment setup, configuration, testing, cutover, and post-production stabilization across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Implement automation, observability, and CI/CD integration for CDC pipelines, including logging, monitoring (e.g., Splunk), and standardized deployment patterns using Terraform or similar tools.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, standards, and patterns to scale GoldenGate adoption and reduce reliance on vendor support.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate in enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of CDC patterns, replication internals, and heterogeneous data movement.
  • Experience supporting GoldenGate across z/OS, distributed systems, and cloud (AWS).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting replication issues, performance tuning, and ensuring data consistency.
  • Experience with automation, observability, and CI/CD for data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across multiple technical teams.
  • Excellent documentation habits and operational discipline.
Nice-to-Have Skills (Differentiators)
  • Experience integrating GoldenGate with Kafka or other streaming platforms; exposure to event-driven or data mesh architectures.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security integrations (e.g., Entra ID / OAuth, RBAC).
  • Experience with Python or Java for scripting or pipeline tooling.
  • Exposure to enterprise integration tools supporting ETL, CDC, and ESB patterns.
Who Thrives Here
  • Engineers who enjoy solving complex data movement challenges at enterprise scale.
  • Professionals who value clarity, structure, and operational excellence.
  • Builders who want to modernize data ecosystems and enable real-time analytics.
  • Team players who collaborate deeply across platform, infrastructure, and security domains.
