Job description

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join a fast-paced fintech environment on a short-term contract engagement. This role will be responsible for maintaining data integrity, supporting critical business operations, and managing PostgreSQL databases that power user accounts, transactions, and compliance processes. The ideal candidate has deep PostgreSQL expertise, strong SQL skills, and experience working directly with production data in highly regulated environments. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical database administration capabilities and a strong operational mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and respond to data-related requests involving user balances, deposits, withdrawals, and other business-critical metrics.
  • Perform database administration tasks, including schema updates, data modifications, and ongoing database maintenance.
  • Support database backup, recovery, and server management processes.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and operational issues across production systems.
  • Handle GDPR-related requests, including account deactivation and data visibility management.
  • Support customer-facing operations by resolving account-related data issues and user updates.
  • Generate reports related to KYC status, user balances, and other key operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with compliance, operations, customer support, and engineering teams to ensure data accuracy and system reliability.
Core Requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL and SQL.
  • Experience using database administration tools such as pgAdmin.
  • Strong understanding of database schema design, database maintenance, server management, and backup/recovery processes.
  • Experience performing data updates, migrations, and troubleshooting within production environments.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex data-related issues with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience supporting business-critical systems that manage sensitive user and financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
