Remote Data Scientist Risk Jobs in Toronto, ON (NOW HIRING)

The Opportunity
As Director, Total Fund Management Investment Analytics, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of analytical solutions that support TFM portfolio construction, funding, and global trading capabilities. You will combine strategic direction with hands-on product engineering leadership to build scalable solutions that deliver transparency, insight, and execution excellence across the Total Fund.

This role integrates advanced analytics, modern engineering practices, and product operating discipline to enable data driven decision making at enterprise scale.

Who you will work with

You will report to the SMD, Investment Technology & Applied Intelligence and work closely with senior leaders across Total Fund Management, Investment Risk, and Investment Strategy.

You will lead cross functional squads composed of engineers, data engineers, QA, and business analysts, partnering daily with Product Managers and Scrum Masters. You will collaborate with Enterprise and Solution Architects to ensure alignment to enterprise standards and long term platform strategy.

Your stakeholder network will include senior portfolio managers, quantitative teams, risk professionals, treasury, and global trading teams. You will also engage external vendors and strategic technology partners as required.

Interaction is continuous and hands on, spanning strategic roadmap discussions, quarterly planning, and day to day delivery oversight.

What you'll do

Analytics and AI Strategy

• Define and execute an analytics and AI strategy aligned to Total Fund priorities

• Translate portfolio and funding strategies into scalable analytics and AI capabilities

• Deliver roadmaps that improve transparency, attribution, capital allocation insight, and execution efficiency

Advanced Analytics and AI Platforms

• Build and scale capabilities across data integration, visualization, predictive modeling, optimization, and scenario analysis

• Lead aggregation and modeling of public market portfolio data

• Develop AI models and agents / systems supporting risk analytics, liquidity analysis, leverage monitoring, and cross-asset exposures

Delivery and Operational Excellence

• Lead cross-functional teams of data scientists, ML engineers, analysts, and BAs

• Establish model development standards, validation frameworks, and performance monitoring

• Ensure scalability, reliability, explainability, and strong model governance

• Manage external data providers and AI vendors

• Oversee budgets, resource planning, and squad capacity

Stakeholder Partnership

• Partner with TFM leadership to prioritize analytics and AI use cases

• Align solutions to portfolio insight, asset allocation, and liquidity management needs

• Report on delivery progress, model performance, and value realization

• Advise on AI-enabled innovation in portfolio construction and investment analytics

Talent and Culture

• Build and lead high-performing analytics and AI teams

• Attract, develop, and retain senior data science talent

• Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

• Champion responsible, high-quality AI practices within Investment Analytics

What you will need

• Minimum 15 years of relevant application/platform/solution management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; Master's or professional degree preferred.

• Designations in AI, Machine Learning, and/or Analytics are considered an asset.

• Excellent knowledge of advanced analytics disciplines (e.g., Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing) and industry leading AI models / tools.

• Proven experience building and leading advanced analytics and/or data science teams.

• Demonstrated excellence in talent management, communication, and delivering analytics solutions within financial services or investment fund management.
