Description:
We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record in applied ML research/engineering. You will lead the development by training large-scale multimodal (2D/3D vision-language) models on distributed backends, deployment of compact neural architectures efficiently on device, and learning policies that can be personalized to the user in a privacy-preserving manner. Ensuring quality in the wild, with an emphasis on fairness and model robustness, would constitute an important part of the role. You will be interacting very closely with a variety of ML researchers, software engineers, hardware & design teams cross-functionally. The primary responsibilities of the role would center on enriching the multimodal capabilities of large language models. The user experience initiative would focus on aligning image/video/text content to the space of LMs for visual actions & multi-turn interactions.
The Role:
  • Build and lead a team of engineers and data scientists researching and developing flexible generative multimodal LLMs
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and explore potential applications of large language models (LLMs) in multimodal psychological and educational data.
  • Proficiency in training, fine-tuning, and deploying LLMs, as well as staying up-to-date with the latest advancements and research in the field, is essential.
  • Develop and deploy models and algorithms to analyze and extract insights from large data sets, including psychological, academic, browsing, and interests, that can be utilized to develop student and teacher profiles.
  • Adopt and evaluate existing methods and tools, establish and maintain computational infrastructure and analytic pipelines in the lab
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of the machine learning models and algorithms developed.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of LLM models into production environments.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Behavioral Data Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in a relevant field. (Education/Psychology/Computer Vision)
  • Outstanding Machine Learning in Self-supervised learning, FER, Transfer learning, Multimodal learning, and Deep learning
  • Strong practical experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch
  • The passion and desire to make a meaningful impact for learners across the globe
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and multifaceted research and development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of experience working in data science in a consumer product company.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Machine Learning Scientists, Data Scientists, Research Scientists, Applied Scientists, and/or Economists.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in several of the following areas: machine learning, statistics, NLP, deep learning, recommendation systems, dialogue systems, information retrieval, XGBoost, LightGBM, and ElasticNet.
  • Demonstrated industry leadership in the fields of Database and/or Data Warehousing, Data Sciences, and Big Data processing.
  • Deep understanding of data, applications, server, and network security
  • Successful record of developing less experienced team members to a successful career track.
