Position: Data Platform Engineer
Location: Lehi UT (Lehi 1 A few times per week or Fully Remote)
Duration: 11 months (possible extension)
Job Description:
We are seeking a Snowflake Administrator to join our team. This role is central to maintaining the integrity and security of our data ecosystem. The ideal candidate is a meticulous and service-oriented individual who thrives on managing sensitive workflows that are vital to the daily function of a large number of teams. You will be responsible for ensuring our data access and usage align with governance policies and regulatory requirements, while continuously seeking opportunities to improve and automate our processes.
Responsibilities:
Assist in managing workflows tied to data access requests and usage, ensuring alignment with internal data governance policies and external regulatory requirements.
Compose, document, and maintain clear technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), governance playbooks, and recurring compliance reporting deliverables to improve transparency and operational continuity.
Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes through automation; recommend and implement specific improvements using scripting and other tools.
Troubleshoot data-related error alerts and failures, working collaboratively with technical teams to resolve issues promptly.
Communicate objectives, priorities, and status updates to stakeholders in a clear and cheerful manner, both written and verbally.
Qualifications:
Professional experience as a Snowflake Account Admin.
Strong working knowledge and hands-on familiarity with tools such as Snowflake, SQL, Python, and dbt. Must be comfortable writing code and scripting to drive automation.
Solid understanding of core data governance and data engineering principles, including metadata management, data classification, stewardship, retention, and access controls.
Exceptional precision and accuracy are required, as this role manages sensitive workflows vital to many teams' daily functions.
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize concurrent and ad-hoc tasks, requiring frequent context switching to deliver against deadlines.
Proven skill in managing ongoing requests from diverse stakeholders while consistently maintaining a positive and service-oriented demeanor.
A natural desire to learn new tools and processes as the industry evolves, coupled with an aptitude for teaching and training others on established procedures.
Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Nice to Haves:
Experience with Streamlit in Snowflake & Snowflake Data Shares.
Jira Administration experience.
Azure DevOps (ADO) experience.
Git experience.
Exposure to audit processes, SOX/ITGC controls, and control remediation workflows.
