Expected Outcomes and Requirements:

Gateway Fiber is seeking anEnterprise Data Platform Administrator to own and operate our enterprise data platform, with primary responsibility for Microsoft Fabric, the enterprise Lakehouse, data pipelines, governance, Power BI data models, and supporting SQL Server environments.

This is a hands-on owner/operator role. The right person will take ownership of an actively developing platform, turn raw enterprise data into trusted Gold datasets, and make those datasets usable across the business for reporting, analytics, decision-making, and future AI use cases.

This is not a hands-off management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building, coding, troubleshooting, improving standards, and working directly with business teams to understand what data they need and how it should be delivered.

The Enterprise Data Administrator is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:

  • Own and administer Gateway Fiber's Microsoft Fabric environment, including Lake houses, Warehouses, One Lake, Data Factory, and related data engineering workloads.
  • Manage the enterprise Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers.
  • Build, maintain, and improve ETL/ELT pipelines that transform source-system data into trusted, business-ready datasets.
  • Publish and govern Gold datasets that analysts and business teams can confidently use for reporting and analytics.
  • Support Power BI semantic models, datasets, and reporting performance.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, IT, and vendors to define data needs, improve quality, and drive adoption.
  • Provide SQL Server database administration support for GIS and other enterprise systems, including monitoring, maintenance, backups, and performance tuning.

What you'll bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, analytics platforms, or enterprise data systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, modern data platforms, Lake houses, Warehouses, or enterprise data lakes.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and transforming source-system data into curated datasets.
  • Strong SQL and T-SQL skills, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and data modeling.
  • Experience with Power BI semantic models, datasets, and reporting solutions.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, documentation, and enterprise reporting standards.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate with stakeholders, and take ownership in a small-team environment.
  • Experience with Medallion Architecture, Azure Data Platform technologies, Python, PowerShell, or automation.
  • Experience supporting ArcGIS Enterprise, GIS data environments, or enterprise SQL Server databases.
  • Experience integrating ERP, CRM, OSS/BSS, telecom, utility, or other operational systems.
  • Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Esri, or related certifications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to executive and nontechnical audiences
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to executive and nontechnical audiences
Who Will Be Successful In This Role

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Wants to own and operate an enterprise platform, not manage from the sidelines.
  • Enjoys being hands-on with architecture, coding, troubleshooting, governance, and reporting.
  • Is comfortable reaching across departments, asking questions, and pulling the right people into the conversation.
  • Thrives in a smaller team where ownership, initiative, and follow-through matter.
Why This Role Matters

Gateway Fiber is investing in Microsoft Fabric as the foundation for trusted reporting, analytics, automation, and future AI initiatives. This role will be the internal owner of that platform and will directly shape how data is used across the company.

What's in it for you?

  • Seeing your work make a positive difference in the lives of our served communities.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, paid time-off, flexible environment).
  • Locally owned, friendly, innovative company with high growth projections.
