Job Description:

The Business Systems Analyst III performs systems analysis assignments with varying degrees of supervision. The Business Systems Analyst III also provides complex technical business support to clients that utilize small/midsize/enterprise level systems.

Depth & Scope:

  • Communicates with programmers to ensure understanding of business processes and requirements of the users. Works with programmers to ensure that the delivered system matches the specified features and functions
  • Assesses available technologies recommending innovative and cost-effective solutions
  • Analyzes business challenges and recommends appropriate IT solutions and services
  • Maps current business processes to new systems and supports the transition to the new solution
  • Determines interface requirements for effective system transition
  • Resolves issues that cross multiple systems or departments that may affect the business process
  • Develops detailed specification documents that include features and functions of the new system
  • Develops test plans and test case scenarios to guarantee the new system design meets business requirements
  • Implements new system installations, upgrade and conversions
  • Documents selected system parameters, file layouts and application design layouts. Tracks open issues and resolution of issues

    Education & Experience:

    • 4 Year Degree or equivalent experience
    • 7+ Years of related experience
    • Excellent communications, problem-solving and decision making skills
    • Progressively responsible experience in large scale corporate systems analysis
    • Previous management experience required
    • Ability to work with systems users or potential users to develop system specifications and requirements, applying business systems knowledge to ensure relevant areas of research are addressed
    • Ability to independently translate user requirements into technical specifications

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong mainframe finance / general ledger experience
    • Experience working closely with finance business partners
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience as Business Systems Analyst on FIS (Fidelity Information Services)/Systematics FM (Financial Management) application:
      • In-depth, hands on experience from a Technology perspective
      • Systematics key program function & logic aligned to functional application experience
    • System / technical requirement writing skills with proven experience:
      • Testing experience with functional manual testing and reviewing technical /unit testing
    • Experience working with both waterfall and agile methodology
    • Experience in creating user process documentation
    • Knowledge / experience with the following technical skills preferred:
      • TSO/ISPF
      • CAVIEW
      • PDS & Application Datasets: Ability to read, copy, create
      • SDSF options (Understanding and functionality)
      • COBOL basic understanding
      • Endevor element browse
    • Experience using File-aid:
      • Understanding of basic file reading
      • Ability to map a copybook to a file
