What is remote data entry coding?

Remote data entry coding involves entering, updating, and managing data in digital systems from a location outside a traditional office environment. This job typically requires accurately inputting information, such as codes, numbers, or text, into databases or software platforms. Employees often work from home and may handle sensitive data, making attention to detail and confidentiality important. Common industries hiring for these roles include healthcare, finance, and e-commerce. Remote data entry coding jobs usually require basic computer skills, familiarity with relevant software, and reliable internet access.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote data entry coding specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Data Entry Coding Specialist, you need strong attention to detail, fast and accurate typing skills, and a solid understanding of data management procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with data entry software, spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets), and sometimes basic coding or database management systems is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and effective time management are crucial soft skills for remote work success. These competencies ensure error-free data processing, maintain data integrity, and support efficient workflow in a remote environment.

What are the most common challenges faced in a remote data entry coding role and how can they be managed?

One of the main challenges in a remote data entry coding position is maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail while working independently. Distractions at home and repetitive tasks can sometimes lead to errors or decreased productivity. Setting up a dedicated, quiet workspace and following a structured daily routine can help minimize mistakes. Additionally, staying connected with team members via regular check-ins and using collaboration tools ensures data consistency and timely communication of any issues.

What is the difference between Remote Data Entry Coding vs Remote Medical Coding?

Remote Data Entry Coding involves basic data entry tasks across various industries, requiring minimal certifications. Remote Medical Coding is specialized for healthcare, requiring medical coding certifications. While both roles are remote and computer-based, medical coding demands industry-specific knowledge and credentials, making it more specialized than general data entry coding.

Can you get a remote data entry coding job with no experience?

Remote data entry coding jobs often require basic computer skills and attention to detail, but many entry-level positions do not require prior experience. Candidates can improve their chances by learning relevant software, such as spreadsheet or database tools, and demonstrating accuracy and reliability. Some employers may offer training or onboarding for new hires without experience.

Do remote data entry coding jobs really exist?

Remote data entry coding jobs are real positions that involve inputting and coding data from a remote location, often requiring skills in data management and familiarity with specific software or coding systems. Job Description

Turner & Townsendย is seeking an experiencedย Senior Electrical Estimatorย to support the delivery of largescale, missioncritical data center programs. This role is central to the commercial planning and execution of hyperscale facilities, where electrical infrastructure represents a significant portion of total project cost, schedule risk, and operational performance.

The Senior Electrical Estimator will lead the development of detailed electrical estimates for power distribution, backup generation, and critical systems, providing commercial and technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. This role works closely with engineering, construction, and procurement teams and requires strong technical expertise, sound estimating judgment, and experience in fastpaced, standardized delivery environments.

Candidates for this role must be physically based in the United States and legally authorized to work in the U.S. Remote work is permitted only from within the United States; candidates located outside the U.S. cannot be considered for remote employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of detailed electrical cost estimates for hyperscale data center projects, including medium and lowvoltage distribution, substations, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, busway, grounding, and lighting systems.
  • Perform and oversee comprehensive electrical quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models, including conduit, cabling, transformers, generators, and associated infrastructure.
  • Develop, validate, and challenge labor, material, and equipment pricing models aligned with project budgets, delivery strategies, and evolving market conditions.
  • Establish and maintain historical cost data, benchmarks, and estimating standards to support largescale programs and future project forecasting.
  • Review, analyze, and normalize electrical contractor and subcontractor bids, identifying scope gaps, cost risks, and commercial exposure.
  • Lead and support value engineering and design optioneering efforts, evaluating alternative electrical systems, layouts, and installation methods while maintaining redundancy and reliability requirements.
  • Partner closely with engineering, procurement, and construction leaders to inform electrical system decisions based on cost, constructability, schedule, and risk.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks related to longlead electrical equipment, supply chain constraints, labor availability, and market escalation.
  • Account for regional cost variability across U.S. markets, including labor rates, logistics constraints, permitting considerations, and utility interface requirements.
  • Support estimating for largescale power infrastructure, including utility tieins, substations, and campuswide electrical distribution.
  • Contribute to standardized data center designs and repeatable delivery models, improving cost certainty, scalability, and speed to market.
  • Ensure electrical estimates align with applicable codes, safety standards, sustainability objectives, and energy efficiency requirements.
  • Prepare clear, defensible estimating deliverables and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in cost reviews, procurement discussions, funding approvals, and commercial strategy sessions.
  • Support change management by assessing electrical scope changes and cost impacts throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
  • Provide estimating handover materials to construction teams to support alignment between estimate and execution.
  • Offer mentorship and technical guidance to junior estimators and contribute to estimating best practices.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical estimating, with strong preference for data center, missioncritical, or largescale infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, electrical codes, and labor productivity.
  • Demonstrated experience estimating highdensity and hyperscale electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in estimating and takeoff tools such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar platforms, with strong familiarity interpreting BIMbased information.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate cost drivers, assumptions, and risks.
  • Proven ability to operate independently while providing leadership within a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.
