About Voyager Lending
Voyager Lending is a growing lending organization dedicated to providing businesses with access to capital through SBA loan programs and other financing solutions. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented SBA Loan Specialist to support our lending team throughout the loan origination process.
This role serves as a critical bridge between loan origination and underwriting, ensuring loan files are properly structured, documented, and compliant before submission to credit. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of SBA lending guidelines, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Position Summary
The SBA Loan Specialist plays a key role in supporting lenders by reviewing loan files, collecting documentation, evaluating SBA eligibility requirements, and preparing complete loan packages for underwriting. This individual will collaborate with lenders, borrowers, referral partners, and third-party vendors to ensure an efficient and compliant lending process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support lenders in gathering and organizing documentation for loan files.
  • Review loan requests to ensure proper structure, eligibility, and SBA compliance.
  • Analyze borrower documentation for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify missing information and work directly with lenders and borrowers to obtain required documentation.
  • Conduct preliminary eligibility reviews in accordance with SBA SOP guidelines and program requirements.
  • Assist lenders in structuring transactions to meet SBA standards and internal lending requirements.
  • Maintain organized loan files and ensure all required documentation is obtained before underwriting.
  • Coordinate communication among lenders, borrowers, referral partners, and third-party vendors.
  • Monitor loan pipeline activity and proactively address issues that may delay underwriting.
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and properly documented loan packages for submission to underwriting.
  • Maintain detailed records and notes within the company CRM and loan origination systems.
  • Stay current on SBA program updates, SOP changes, and relevant lending regulations.

Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking, financial services, lending, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of SBA lending, loan processing, underwriting support, or commercial lending experience.
  • Working knowledge of SBA 7(a) loan programs and eligibility requirements.
  • Strong understanding of business financial statements, tax returns, and supporting credit documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using loan origination systems, Navigator, or similar lending technology platforms.
  • Strong data entry, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience working with SBA SOP compliance requirements.
