Policy & Compliance Specialist (Part-Time)

Location: Augusta, ME

Schedule: Up to 24 hours per week

Location: Remote


Position Overview

The Policy & Compliance Specialist supports the Division of Licensing and Certification (DLC) in managing regulatory oversight for Personal Care Agencies (PCAs) and Home and Community Support Services (HCSS) providers.

This part-time role plays a key role in ensuring compliance with state regulations by coordinating enforcement activities, managing case workflows, and supporting administrative processes. The position collaborates closely with program managers and surveyors to maintain accurate records, meet regulatory timelines, and ensure high-quality documentation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and draft enforcement correspondence in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Monitor and track enforcement cases to ensure compliance with timelines and deadlines
  • Coordinate and support administrative hearings, including documentation preparation
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Participate in enforcement meetings and document outcomes and action items
  • Process Freedom of Access Act (FOAA) requests within required timeframes
  • Review and redact documents for FOAA compliance following statutory guidelines
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of case materials and data entry for accuracy
  • Maintain detailed and organized records across systems and databases

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in compliance, regulatory, legal support, or case management environments
  • Strong written communication skills, including report and correspondence drafting
  • Ability to analyze information and draw sound conclusions
  • Experience coordinating multiple tasks and managing deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of administrative hearing processes
  • Familiarity with government regulations, policies, and compliance frameworks
  • Experience handling FOIA/FOAA or similar public records requests
  • Background in healthcare regulation, licensing, or public sector work
