Job description

Senior Full-Stack Developer (Cloud Modernization)
Location: Fully Remote
Clearance/Eligibility: US Citizen or Green Card Holder Required (Federal Project)
Experience Level: Senior (6+ Years Full-Stack)
Terms: 1 Year Temp to Perm
Pay Range: $60-$70/hr (Negotiable)
About the Role & Project
Seeking Senior Full-Stack Developers to join a high-visibility digital modernization program for a major federal client.
This is a massive transformation effort: taking a 30-year-old legacy ColdFusion application and completely reimagining it into a modern, microservices-based, AI-driven Python architecture hosted on the AWS cloud. You will work directly with digital leaders, solution architects, and cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and deploy scalable, operationally resilient software products.
Because this project is driving toward critical milestones under new technology leadership, we are looking for experienced engineers who can jump in with minimal ramp-up time, think through complex data models, and start shipping clean code quickly.
What You Will Do
  • Modernization & Architecture: Serve as a core member of the modernization team, converting legacy code into modern, cloud-native microservices using API-First design patterns.
  • Full-Stack Engineering: Hands-on development of scalable, secure frontend and backend systems hosted on AWS.
  • Prototyping & Design: Build innovative solution prototypes to validate technical strategies and evaluate architectural tradeoffs.
  • Agile Collaboration: Partner with UX designers, platform engineers, product owners, and business analysts in an Agile/SAFe environment to iteratively ship feature releases.
  • Database & Data Modeling: Design resilient data models and relational/NoSQL structures (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) optimized for high performance.
What You Will Need (Basic Qualifications)
  • Work Authorization: Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree (or 10+ years of overall relevant IT experience) plus a minimum of 6 years in full-stack application development.
  • Cloud Experience: Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience building, modernizing, and deploying applications on the AWS cloud platform.
  • Core Languages (Must-Haves): Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
  • Framework Flexibility:
    • Backend: Experience with Django, Flask, FastAPI, Falcon, or SQLAlchemy.
    • Frontend: Experience with Vue.js, React, Svelte, or Angular (v1.6+).
  • Engineering Capabilities: Strong grasp of software design patterns (MVC, microservices), data modeling (relational database schema design), and RESTful API development.
  • Agile Practice: Proven experience working autonomously within modern Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
What Would Be Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Developer - Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • AWS Stack & Tooling: AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, Step Functions, EKS/Kubernetes, ECS, Docker, SAM, RDS for PostgreSQL, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
  • DevSecOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience integrating applications into automated DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Legacy Transformation: Experience refactoring legacy codebases into modern cloud-native architectures.
Why Join This Team?
  • Proven Track Record: We have already placed multiple developers with this client team who are thriving and love the work culture.
  • Cutting-Edge Tech: Get direct experience implementing AI-driven capabilities and AWS cloud-native patterns on an enterprise scale.
  • Impactful Work: You won't just be maintaining systems-you will be actively reshaping an enterprise platform used by thousands of users.

Note on Hiring Integrity: We value authenticity and real-world engineering problem-solving. We look for candidates who demonstrate genuine hands-on experience and solid technical thought processes during interactive coding and data modeling exercises.
About Seneca Resources: At Seneca Resources, we are more than a staffing and consulting firm-we are a trusted career partner.
