Overview

Summary

Ensure the timely verification and submission of standardized data reports, compiled from organ donor referral data to various regulatory agencies, including HRSA and OPTN, by providing accurate quality review, timely data querying, and accurate reconciliation of missing data.

A background in medical records review / audit and analysis, as well as standardized reporting is important in this role. 

Compensation range for this position is 64,000-72,000 annually.  

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

The following essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
  • Timely submit regulatorily reportable data, including the Ventilated Patient Form, for deceased organ donor referrals
  • Work collaboratively with other department staff and Hospital partners to ensure timely reporting of regulatorily reportable data
  • Review donor records, within the Electronic Medical Record system, for accuracy and completeness
  • Verify key data points for accuracy and completeness prior to data transmission
  • Obtain missing donor record information and rectify erroneous or missing data, in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements, through a variety of query methods
  • Proactively escalate discovered errors, deviations and discrepancies for timely resolution
  • Monitor the status of regulatory reporting caseloads and deadlines to ensure reporting is completed accurately and timely
  • Contact hospitals, doctor's offices, and other partners to request additional documentation pertaining to donor cases
  • Work across departments, as well as with external partners, to resolve identified charting errors and other correction requests
  • Promote an environment that supports quality assurance and performance improvement by facilitating the timely identification and reporting of Opportunities for Improvement including discovered opportunities for improvement, deviations, reported complaints, and other adverse events, and foster a non-punitive Quality culture focused on continuous process improvement
  • Actively contribute to a culture of cybersecurity awareness
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's information assets by following established security policies and procedures, completing all required cybersecurity training on time, reporting potential security issues promptly, and practicing secure handling of data, systems, and credentials in day-to-day activities. Must follow security policies, protect organizational data, and report potential security issues.
  • Complete all required administrative tasks, training and honor commitments to meet individual and organizational needs in a timely manner 
  • Actively engage in learning and professional development opportunities and collaborate with supervisor to establish and maintain written short and longterm professional development goals

Qualifications

Education and Training Required

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience

Experience and Skills Required

The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • 2 years' experience in medical industry, medical record review, or medical chart auditing highly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Highly organized with the ability to pay attention to detail to assure accuracy and completeness of records and data
  • Ability to identify problems in day-to-day processes and appropriate address for timely resolution
  • Ability to professionally interact with internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks to ensure timely completion and ability to adapt to changing work   priorities
  • Basic skills in Excel and Word
