Job description

The Remote TV Cutter Support Technician will be responsible for coordinating service requests and conducting operations to remotely control robots performing pipeline rehabilitation functions such as inspections, service restorations, repairs, and quality issue resolutions. They will support operations by reviewing submitted projects for remote connectivity and providing assessments of the connectivity potential for the project. The Remote TV Cutter Support Technician will also coordinate the deployment, use, and recovery of temporary remote connectivity hardware (Starlink). This role operates remotely from onsite crews, being supported at a dedicated workstation located at a home or office at the discretion of the business.
Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Review projects and assess the remote connectivity potential at work locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on computers installed in trucks, and validate data integrity to support continuous improvement of digital programs.
  • Define requirements for software updates and configuration to optimize data collection and system performance. Install, update, and configure software required for video recording and robot communication.
  • Provide targeted remote technical support to Digital Truck operators to diagnose system issues, validate data integrity, and inform ongoing system and program improvements.
  • Operate remote cameras to videotape inside sewer lines for inspections.
  • Remotely operate robots to repair various sewer lines using appropriate tools and processes.
  • Work with onsite technicians to service, adjust, and perform minor repairs to the camera, equipment, and attachments.
  • Work with video software for pipeline rehabilitation projects.
  • Setup and maintain a remote workstation at home or an office at the discretion of the business.
  • Validate requests for service and schedule work with field teams.
  • Maintain necessary logs of work performed and provide reports as required to supervisors and clients.
  • Learn and follow Insituform's products, processes, safety procedures, installation techniques, and use of equipment.
  • Effectively work with supervisors, clients, peers, and subordinates
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities required.   • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred; and a minimum of two years' experience in trenchless installation, including robotic tap cutting (preferred).
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred. Ability to use web browsers and online tools effectively to assess information, record work, and communicate with clients and supervisors is required.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately; ability to communicate with homeowners/clients when required.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to use a computer to view data.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Physical Demands: The role requires extended concentration and the ability to work at a computer terminal for long periods while operating a remote workstation. Physical activity may include walking/standing/bending/climbing and using hand tools, with the ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 75 pounds and wear required PPE.
  • Work Environment: In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in an inside controlled environment suitable for the operation of the remote workstation. Will occasionally be exposed to outside work conditions at work sites for training or other purposes.
