The Role: Data Center Special Projects – Project Manager

As a Data Center Special Projects Project Manager, you will lead retrofit, upgrade, and expansion projects within operating data centers. You are accountable for planning, execution, safety, budget control, and schedule performance. This role requires careful coordination to protect live operations while delivering construction outcomes. Your work directly impacts facility reliability, customer experience, and infrastructure performance.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan and manage special projects from initiation through closeout.

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets aligned to business priorities.

  • Oversee contractor safety performance and enforce site safety standards.

  • Conduct safety walks and include safety reporting in project updates.

  • Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.

  • Coordinate with Operations to schedule work during maintenance windows or low-impact periods.

  • Ensure all work follows approved MOPs and SOPs.

  • Identify project risks early and implement mitigation plans.

  • Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and cost documentation.

  • Provide clear updates to leadership on milestones, risks, cost status, and schedule performance.

  • Support installation and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, and network infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of construction management processes and methods.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights or weekends, based on project needs.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software.

  • Working knowledge of CAD or 3D modeling tools.
