Remote Data Center information

What is a remote data center?

A remote data center is a facility that houses computer systems, servers, and related components, located offsite and managed remotely rather than on the primary business premises. These data centers are accessed and operated through network connections, enabling businesses to store, process, and manage data without maintaining physical infrastructure onsite. Remote data centers provide benefits such as increased security, scalability, disaster recovery, and cost savings for organizations that need reliable IT resources but want to minimize direct management. They are commonly used for cloud computing, backup, and hosting large-scale applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote data center technician?

To thrive as a Remote Data Center Technician, you need strong knowledge of server hardware, networking, and data center operations, often supported by certifications like CompTIA Server+ or Cisco CCNA. Familiarity with remote monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and infrastructure management platforms is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills help technicians address issues efficiently and coordinate with on-site teams. These skills ensure smooth data center operations, minimize downtime, and support critical business functions from a remote environment.

How does working in a remote data center role typically differ from on-site data center positions in terms of daily collaboration and communication?

In a remote data center role, much of the collaboration with on-site technicians, network engineers, and IT support teams is conducted through digital platforms such as video conferences, ticketing systems, and chat applications. While you may not physically interact with hardware, you'll often coordinate troubleshooting, manage configurations, and monitor systems remotely. Effective communication and clear documentation are especially critical, as you rely on local staff for hands-on tasks and need to ensure instructions are precise. This setup offers flexibility but also demands strong self-discipline and proactive engagement to stay aligned with the team.

Remote Data Center roles focus on managing data center operations remotely, often involving cloud and network management from a distance. Data Center Technicians work on-site, handling hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance within physical data centers. While both roles require similar technical certifications, their work environments and daily tasks differ significantly, catering to different industry needs.

Can remote data center jobs be remote?

Remote data center jobs typically involve managing and maintaining data center infrastructure from a remote location, which is increasingly common with the use of remote monitoring tools and cloud management platforms. However, some roles may require on-site presence for hardware installation, troubleshooting, or physical access to equipment. Job requirements vary by employer and specific position.

Job Title: Pricing Manager

Location: Remote

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Range: $90,000+ Annually

Company: Arise Industrial Manufacturing

About Us:

We are a metal stamping and fabrication business serving customers nationally across a wide range of sectors. Our success is built on industry expertise and our "We Win With People" mindset, which keeps employees at the center of our decisions and actions. We lead with safety, operate with integrity, and practice a "hearts and minds" approach within our workplace where employees are engaged and empowered and we can fully support our customers.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Pricing Manager to own and navigate the company's pricing operations throughout the organization to ensure pricing integrity, consistency and strategic execution. This role is ideal for a data-driven problem solver who enjoys working across multiple functions, determining best practices, and creating new processes. This newly created position will serve as a key link between Commercial, Finance, Operations and Purchasing functions. Note that this position will not quote new business, but rather will own the end-to-end pricing operations process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, oversee and manage the company's pricing operations. Build and maintain every customer pricing agreement, the mechanism governing it, and the calendar of when each one can be changed.
  • Standardize internal pricing tools and methods.
  • Track cost drivers that impact margin, estimate potential impacts early, and coordinate best course of action with other functions within the organization.
  • Maintain a defined trigger threshold for fixed price agreements and produce recommendation packages in response.
  • Manage price setup, administration, notification and configuration.
  • Keep other functions abreast of margin performance and related activities.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations based on margin intelligence (considering end product, industry, geography, etc.).
  • Provide modeling and analysis support with price agreement renewals.
  • Convert awarded quotes into master pricing records, including tooling amortization, setup charges and MOQs.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 5/+ years in pricing, commercial finance, contract administration or estimating preferably within manufacturing
  • Direct experience with raw material pass-through mechanisms, published indices, and escalation clauses
  • Advanced spreadsheet and data capability, including building analysis from unclean source data
  • Ability to read, interpret and advise on commercial agreements and what actions are permissible
  • Comfortable working across multiple functions within the organization
  • Comfortable making evidence-based recommendations to a commercial partner who might disagree

Preferred

  • Metals background, fabrication or stamping
  • Multi-site or multi-ERP experience
  • Experience standing up a function that did not previously exist

Why Work with Us?

  • We offer competitive pay (including annual bonus plan) and an outstanding benefits package.
  • We invest in our people, offering opportunities for career growth and development.
  • We offer a positive work culture with a safe environment while producing quality work efficiently.

Benefits:

  • Day 1 company-provided telehealth services to all employees and family
  • Company-provided Life and AD&D Insurance and Disability Insurance
  • Multiple options for Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Optional Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contribution
  • Voluntary supplemental insurance options (critical care, hospital indemnity, accident, etc.)
  • Traditional 401(k) and Roth retirement savings plans with employer contribution
  • Paid Time Off
