Position Overview
This Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer opportunity is suited to a technically strong engineer with EPC experience across industrial power distribution and power generation projects. The Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will take a senior leadership position on complex engineering work, helping to guide major technical decisions and support delivery from concept through commissioning. This position offers the chance to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, customers, vendors, and project stakeholders in a demanding industrial environment. Role Context
This role is based in Charleston, West Virginia and supports complex EPC projects within industrial environments, including power distribution, power generation, and related facility infrastructure. The work spans multiple project phases, from front-end development through detailed design, procurement support, construction, commissioning, and startup. The position operates within multidisciplinary engineering and project delivery teams and includes typical travel of 15%-25%.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering execution for EPC projects involving industrial power distribution, power generation, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Direct and review electrical design deliverables, analyses, and construction packages to ensure technical quality, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical, instrumentation, and controls scope across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Work closely with project managers, customers, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to manage scope, priorities, schedules, and technical interfaces.
  • Lead or oversee power system studies and key electrical deliverables, including single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, grounding, lighting, and cable documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers to support safe, efficient, and timely project delivery.
  • Support customer-facing and project execution activities by contributing practical technical solutions and sound engineering judgement.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Essential: 8+ years of relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering, including power distribution and/or power generation projects.
  • Essential: Experience leading electrical engineering work within an EPC or design-build project environment.
  • Essential: Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, applicable codes and standards, and power system studies.
  • Essential: Working knowledge of instrumentation and controls sufficient to coordinate multidisciplinary EIC execution.
  • Essential: Proven ability to lead teams, manage technical interfaces, and communicate effectively with customers and project stakeholders.
  • Desirable: Ability to work from Charleston, WV and travel as required for project needs.
  • Desirable: Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Desirable: Experience in chemical, energy, or other heavy industrial markets.
  • Desirable: Experience with medium- and high-voltage systems, power generation facilities, and related infrastructure.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with control systems integration, field instrumentation, and multidisciplinary design coordination.
