The People Analytics team at Optum provides insights and perspective on our employees and workforce trends that allow us to fulfill our mission to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the People Analytics team directly supporting Labor Relations and report to the Director of People Analytics. You will develop and implement tools to drive improved decision making and business performance by providing executive insights and key trends to Labor Relations and People Business Partners as well as other leaders across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with the team to translate business objectives and challenges into analytics projects, prioritize competing priorities, share best practices, and deliver analytics and reporting of key business trends to human capital business partners.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Consult with senior leaders on the People Team and Labor Relations Team to understand key priorities and utilize data to help them make better decisions 
  • Utilize internal and external data to identify opportunities to identify risks, improve employee experience and performance
  • Simplify complex data into actionable insights
  • Discover and communicate meaningful patterns in data and provide context, insights, and analytics
  • Business Intelligence & Domo/PBI Dashboard Development 
  • Proactive engagement with Labor Relations and People Business Partners to track and improve employee-related metrics to measure the return on HC investments
  • Compile presentations to effectively synthesize and communicate results and implications of data findings and trends
  • Establish standardized KPIs and governance framework for Labor Relations
  • Develop predictive models to proactively address engagement concerns 
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives within the Labor Relations Team 
     

Priorities will include:

  • Assist with the build of a predictive health engine
  • Model and measure the effectiveness of interventions with post-intervention trend analysis 
  • Construct site health index 
  • Executive reporting and visualization

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience analyzing business, financial, People Team or clinical data to provide insights
  • 4 years of experience performing exploratory data analysis, data profiling, and feature engineering on large structured and unstructured datasets
  • 4 years of experience with relational databases, data structures and data languages such as SQL
  • 4 years of experience with programming/statistical languages such as Python, R, Scala, and others
  • 2 years of experience in dashboard development (Tableau, Domo, Power BI)
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling and advanced mathematics
  • Experience influencing and communicating both verbally/written with technical and non-technical high-level leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to turn raw data sets into themes and action plans

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leveraging Generative AI technologies to design and develop solutions
  • Experience deploying ML pipelines and models (logging, monitoring, alerts), cloud experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with human capital metrics / measures
  • Consulting / client facing / client management experience 
  • Understanding of UnitedHealth Group businesses
  • Healthcare industry knowledge

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
