Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst Intern to support data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives within our government contracting operations. This paid internship provides hands-on experience working with federal contracting data, business development metrics, contract performance information, and operational reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and a foundational understanding of government contracting processes and procedures.

This role offers exposure to federal acquisition environments, proposal development support, contract management activities, and executive reporting while working alongside experienced professionals in a government contracting organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar platforms.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing contract performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and program outcomes.
  • Support business development and capture teams by analyzing federal procurement data, market trends, and competitor information.
  • Conduct research and analysis of government contracting opportunities using systems such as SAM.gov, FPDS, USAspending.gov, and other federal databases.
  • Assist with proposal-related data collection, compliance tracking, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and data summaries for leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement through data analysis.
  • Support data governance, quality assurance, and data management activities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and contract administrators to support organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of U.S. Government contracting processes, procedures, and acquisition lifecycle concepts, including federal procurement regulations, contract types, and proposal development activities.
  • Interest in federal contracting, government operations, business intelligence, or public sector consulting.
  • U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python, R, SQL, or other data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) principles.
  • Knowledge of government procurement systems such as SAM.gov, FPDS, eSRS, CPARS, USAspending.gov, or GSA eLibrary.
  • Experience creating dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Coursework or projects involving statistical analysis, forecasting, or business intelligence.
  • Understanding of federal contract vehicles, task orders, and government program management concepts.
