To excel as a Remote DARPA SETA (Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance), you need a strong background in engineering, science, or technical project management, often with an advanced degree and relevant security clearance. Familiarity with project management tools, technical analysis software, and government contracting systems is crucial. Exceptional analytical thinking, clear written and verbal communication, and adaptability to fast-evolving priorities are standout soft skills. What are Remote DARPA SETA positions?

Remote DARPA SETA (Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance) positions are contract roles that provide technical expertise, program management, and administrative support to DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) projects from a remote location. SETA contractors assist government personnel in managing complex research and development programs but do not make final decisions on behalf of the government. These positions require specialized knowledge in science, engineering, or technology and often necessitate security clearances due to the sensitive nature of DARPA projects.

How does working remotely as a DARPA SETA (Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance) contractor affect collaboration with DARPA teams and project stakeholders?

As a remote DARPA SETA, you will frequently collaborate with DARPA project managers, technical staff, and external partners through secure video conferences, email, and collaborative platforms. While physical presence at DARPA headquarters is less frequent, maintaining clear communication and responsiveness is crucial to ensure project alignment and timely support. You may face challenges in building relationships or accessing classified information, but proactive engagement and familiarity with secure communication tools help mitigate these issues. Regular virtual meetings and occasional on-site visits are common to maintain strong connections with the broader project team.
