What is remote cyber security psychology?

Remote cyber security psychology is a specialized field that examines how human behavior and psychological factors impact cyber security, particularly in remote or distributed work environments. Professionals in this area study issues such as social engineering, phishing, password habits, and the ways in which stress or isolation can affect security practices. By understanding psychological vulnerabilities, they help organizations design better security protocols and training to reduce human error and improve overall cyber defense. This field combines elements of psychology, cyber security, and remote work best practices.

How does a Remote Cyber Security Psychology professional typically collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to enhance organizational security?

Remote Cyber Security Psychology professionals often work closely with both IT security teams and broader organizational departments such as HR and training. They analyze behavioral patterns, design interventions to reduce risky behaviors, and communicate findings to technical staff for implementation. Collaboration is key, as they translate psychological insights into practical recommendations for security policies, awareness campaigns, and incident response training. Remote work requires strong communication skills and the ability to use collaboration tools effectively to bridge the gap between departments and ensure cohesive security strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Cyber Security Psychologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Cyber Security Psychologist, you generally need expertise in both cybersecurity principles and psychology, often supported by degrees in psychology, cybersecurity, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as behavioral analytics platforms, security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and certifications like CISSP or CISM can be advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to understand human behavior in digital environments set candidates apart. These skills are crucial for effectively identifying, analyzing, and mitigating human-driven security threats in remote work settings.

Job description

Get to Know Us
Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing, remote cybersecurity company dedicated to the mission of enabling organizations to proactively find, fix and verify exploitable attack vectors before criminals exploit them. Our flagship product, the NodeZeroTM platform, delivers production-safe autonomous pentests and other key assessment operations that scale across the largest internal, external, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments. NodeZero has been adopted by organizations of all sizes, from small educational institutions to government agencies and Global 100 enterprises. It is used by IT Ops/SecOps teams, consulting pentesters, and MSSPs and MSPs.
We are a fusion of former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers & operators, and formerly frustrated cybersecurity practitioners. We're committed to helping solve our common security problems: ineffective security tools and false positives, resulting in alert fatigue, blind spots, "checkbox" security culture, cybersecurity skills shortage, and the long lead time and expense of hiring outside consultants. Collectively, we are a team of learn-it-alls, committed to a culture of respect, collaboration, ownership, and results.
As a remote first company, we require minimum 25Mbps consumer grade broadband connection.
What You'll Do
We're looking for a Technical Recruiter to help scale our engineering organization at Horizon3.ai. This is a high-impact role where you'll partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to attract, engage, and close top technical talent.
You'll own full-cycle recruiting across key roles (Engineering, Product, and Design) with a strong focus on building high-quality, diverse pipelines in a competitive market. Your primary customers are our hiring managers, and your mission is to ensure we hire exceptional talent quickly and thoughtfully as we scale.
You'll drive recruiting strategy end-to-end - from sourcing and outreach to process design, candidate experience, and closing. This includes developing creative strategies to identify and engage top cyber and non-cyber talent, as well as continuously evaluating and rebuilding recruiting processes that are no longer serving the business.
You'll also help shape how we recruit as a company, bringing ideas, data, and creativity to improve our processes and outcomes.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment - a recruiter who is both strategic and hands-on, excited to build from scratch, experiment, and play a key role in shaping the future of our team.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience as a Technical Recruiter, ideally in a fast-paced startup or high-growth environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing candidates in competitive markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence both candidates and hiring teams.
  • High social aptitude and relationship-building ability - you know how to build trust quickly and maintain strong candidate pipelines.
  • Solid technical acumen, with the ability to understand technical roles, assess candidate qualifications, and have credible conversations with engineers.
  • Experience owning full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, screening, coordinating, and closing candidates.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and drive processes forward in an evolving environment.
  • Data-driven mindset with a focus on improving recruiting processes, efficiency, and candidate experience.

Preferred:
  • Coursework or degree in business, human resources, psychology, information technology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in sales, research, operations, customer service, information technology, administration, or other relevant roles.

Travel Required
We are a fully remote company, and this job may require up to 5% of travel to be successful.
Compensation and Values
At Horizon3, we believe that our people are our greatest asset, and our compensation philosophy reflects this core value. We are committed to fostering an environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and rewarded for their contributions. Our compensation structure is designed to be fair, competitive, and transparent, ensuring that every team member is recognized and compensated equitably across roles, levels, and locations.
In accordance with various State's transparency regulations, we provide the following salary range information for this position:
  • Base salary range: $120,000 - $205,000 annually. The exact salary will be determined based on the selected candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and relevant skills.
  • Additional compensation: This role may also be eligible for an equity package (in the form of stock options). If any other compensation benefits apply, they will be discussed during the interview process.

  • Inclusive Team: We value diversity and promote an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive.
  • Growth Opportunities: Be part of a dynamic and growing team with numerous career development opportunities.
  • Innovative Culture: Work in a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Remote Work: We are a 100% remote company. Enjoy the flexibility to work in the way that supports you and brings out your best.
  • Competitive Compensation: We offer competitive salary and benefits which includes health, vision & dental care for you and your family, a flexible vacation policy, and generous parental leave.
