Remote Cyber Security Contract information

What is a remote cyber security contract?

Remote cyber security contracts are temporary or project-based work agreements in which cyber security professionals provide their expertise to organizations from a remote location, rather than working onsite. These contracts can involve tasks such as vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, security auditing, incident response, and compliance consulting. Remote contracts offer flexibility for both the employer and the contractor, enabling access to a global talent pool and allowing professionals to work from anywhere with a secure internet connection. Contract durations can vary from a few weeks to several months, depending on project needs.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote cyber security contract roles?

Remote cyber security contractors often face challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams across different time zones, ensuring secure remote access to sensitive systems, and staying updated with rapidly evolving cyber threats. Additionally, contractors must be proactive in communicating progress and potential risks to clients, as they may not have immediate in-person access to key stakeholders. Building trust and demonstrating reliability is essential for success in remote engagements, as is maintaining a disciplined work routine to manage multiple projects or clients effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote cyber security contractor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Cyber Security Contractor, you need expertise in network security, threat analysis, incident response, and a strong grasp of cybersecurity frameworks, often supported by a degree in computer science or information security and relevant certifications (such as CISSP or CEH). Familiarity with security tools like SIEM platforms, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and secure remote access systems is crucial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for working independently and collaborating with distributed teams. These competencies ensure robust defense against cyber threats, compliance with security standards, and the ability to respond swiftly to security incidents in a remote work environment.

You will accomplish this through account planning, territory planning, researching prospect customers, using business development strategies and completing field-based sales activities within a defined set of prospects, territory or vertical.

What you get to do in this role:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned closer who understands the mission-critical nature of asset visibility-from the tactical edge to the cloud-and has the established relationships to navigate classified procurement cycles.

  • Execute Mission-Driven Sales: Build and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities within the COCOM's/SOF moving from initial discovery to enterprise-wide adoption.
  • Master the Hybrid Landscape: Evangelize the Armis Centrix platform as the authoritative source of truth for assets across on-prem, air-gapped, and Cloud-native environments.
  • Partner with Systems Integrators: Collaborate with the "Big 5" Federal Systems Integrators (FSIs) and specialized mission partners to include Armis in multi-year Programs of Record.
  • Navigate Procurement: Expertly manage the complexities of the MIP/NIP funding cycles and classified contract vehicles.
  • Deliver Technical Value: Work closely with Cleared Sales Engineers to demonstrate Armis's unique agentless visibility into IT, OT, IoT, and Cloud-native assets.

Clearance: Active TS/SCI Required (Full Scope Poly Preferred)

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Experience: 10+ years of documented success in enterprise software or cybersecurity sales, specifically focused on the COCOM's and SOF community.
  • Local Presence: Must be based in the Tampa metro area to facilitate frequent on-site engagement in classified environments.
  • Cloud Proficiency: Proven experience selling cloud security (CSPM, CWPP) or hybrid-cloud infrastructure solutions to federal agencies.
  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI is mandatory. Candidates with an active Full Scope Poly (FSP) will be given high priority.
  • Network: An existing, high-level network of GS-15/SES and C-suite contacts within the COCOM's/SOF community.
