About Us

Air Reading brings evidence-based reading instruction to elementary students through small-group online classes. Our program, grounded in the Science of Reading, partners with schools to accelerate student progress while providing teachers with professional development and coaching. Independent evaluations, including a Johns Hopkins randomized controlled trial, demonstrate measurable student gains; the program holds an ESSA Tier 1 rating and is featured by Proven Tutoring.


Position Overview

  • Employment type: Contract, remote (must be located in the United States)
  • Schedule: Flexible teaching hours Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. PST
  • Compensation: Up to $24/hour
  • Location: Remote within the United States, excluding California.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured, small-group online reading lessons via Zoom for up to four elementary students per session, with sessions typically lasting 30–40 minutes.
  • Implement the provided curriculum and instructional materials, following detailed lesson steps and fidelity expectations based on structured literacy and the Science of Reading.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate student progress consistently, using established assessment and reporting tools.
  • Maintain an engaging, supportive, and orderly virtual learning environment that promotes student growth.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Comfortable with Zoom and common digital learning tools.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students, colleagues, and school partners.


Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Degree or coursework in education, English, literacy, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching phonics or early reading (K–3) and familiarity with structured literacy approaches.
