Professional and Global Education, formerly UCR Extension, is the continuing and professional education division of the University of California, Riverside offering programs and certificates to domestic and international students. Professional and Global Education values excellence and has educated international students for over forty years.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Position Title: Education Therapy: Part-Time UNEX Instructor
Salary Range: Compensation for this position is $650 per unit. Additionally, a course development fee of $100 per unit is payable for the first time the course is taught in each modality.
Anticipated Start: Summer 2026
Location: Online (synchronous and asynchronous)
POSITION DESCRIPTION
UCR Professional and Global Education (UCR PGE) is seeking experienced professionals to join our instructional team as a part-time instructor for adult learners. Successful candidates of this continuous recruitment will be eligible to teach courses to adult learners, as they are scheduled during the year in our Education Therapy Program. Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis. This is a graduate-level program that provides Education professionals with the tools they need to understand why students have learning challenges and how they learn best. Students in the program learn to create and implement customized treatment plans. This certificate program resides in the Department of Education Programs. Courses are 7-10 weeks in length, with an average of 4 teaching hours per week. Courses are offered asynchronously online (some courses may have a single synchronous Zoom session).

Understanding Learning Differences
Psychology of Human Learning
Principles of Educational Therapy
Techniques of Educational Therapy: Part I Academic and Content Areas
Techniques of Educational Therapy: Part II
Advanced Educational Assessment
Assessment Practicum
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the established instructional agreement, curriculum outlines, and class schedule provided by UCR PGE.
  • Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline the grading policies of the course.
  • Provide students with prompt and substantive feedback on their assignments.
  • Work in conjunction with collaborative partners and subject matter experts to ensure that course information is current.
  • Participate in scheduled orientations, meetings, and mandatory training programs by UCR's established deadlines.
  • Maintain timely and accurate academic records within the learning management system, and submit timely and accurate documentation, as well as student grades, as outlined in the instructional agreement.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:
  • Advanced degree in Education, Curriculum Development, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of related work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide instruction in-person and online.
  • Commitment to the University's mission.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A clear, unexpired, valid CA Education Specialist credential.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • Experience with curriculum development and course design.
  • Ability to teach a wide range of courses.
