Remote Curator information

What is a remote curator?

A Remote Curator is responsible for selecting, organizing, and managing content, collections, or digital assets for online platforms, museums, galleries, or media companies. This role often involves researching, categorizing, and presenting materials to engage audiences or support a brand's content strategy. Remote Curators may work with art, articles, videos, or other forms of digital media. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of the subject matter are typically required. Many positions also involve collaboration with designers, writers, and marketers to optimize the presentation of curated content.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote curator?

To thrive as a Remote Curator, you need expertise in content selection, organization, and research, usually backed by an academic background in art history, museum studies, or a related field. Familiarity with digital asset management systems, collection databases, and virtual exhibition platforms is often required. Strong written communication, collaboration, and self-management skills are essential for effectively engaging audiences and working with remote teams. These competencies are critical for ensuring high-quality curation, smooth digital workflows, and impactful virtual experiences.

What are some common challenges faced by remote curators, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Curators often encounter challenges such as coordinating projects across different time zones, managing digital collections without physical access, and ensuring effective communication with team members and stakeholders. To address these, it's helpful to develop strong organizational habits, schedule regular virtual meetings, and leverage collaborative tools like project management software and video conferencing platforms. Proactively engaging with colleagues and maintaining detailed documentation can also streamline workflow and minimize misunderstandings. By adapting to the unique demands of remote work, curators can continue to deliver engaging and cohesive exhibitions from any location.

Job description

Overview
Your job is to engineer the perfect blend of snark, insight, and relatability. You craft comments so sharp they could cut through the sarcasm and post memes so golden they'd make you stand out. You'd monitor trends like a stockbroker, knowing exactly when to strike with a perfectly timed reply. When drama flares up, you're there, diplomatically sprinkling wisdom (and a subtle burn, if necessary). It's not just about upvotes-it's about curating a legacy of wit and wisdom in the chaotic forum jungle. People might think upvotes are just a number, but to you, it's a mission.
Corporate Tools is hiring a Social Media Associate focusing on Social Forums platforms for $50,000 a year. This is a traditional employee role with company benefits. This is a remote position, but if you're near one of our local offices, you're welcome to come hangout with us in-office as well. Our main offices are in Post Falls, ID, and Spokane, WA; we also have satellite offices in Austin, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT. You'll be working 40 hours a week and, of course, enjoy great company benefits.
Wage
Up to $50,000/year
Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision for employees
  • Annual review with raise option
  • 22 days Paid Time Off accrued annually, and 4 holidays
    • After 3 years, PTO increases to 29 days. Employees transition to flexible time off after 5 years with the company-not accrued, not capped, take time off when you want
    • The 4 holidays are: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Up to 6% company matching 401(k) with no vesting period
  • Quarterly allowance
    • Use to make your remote work set up more comfortable, for continuing education classes, a plant for your desk, coffee for your coworker, a massage for yourself... really, whatever
  • Open concept office with friendly coworkers
  • Creative environment where you can make a difference
  • No dumb benefits like free dog walking on the weekends that snobby hipster places have to make you feel cool, but mathematically won't cost the company much money because you won't use it
  • Trail Mix Bar - oh yeah

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in discussions, upvote quality content, and respond to comments to keep conversations flowing and maintain a positive presence
  • Stay on top of viral content and trending topics to ensure posts are relevant and timely, jumping in on discussions when it's most effective
  • Address any negative comments, downvotes, or missteps diplomatically while maintaining a calm and respectful tone to protect your reputation

Requirements
  • A knack for crafting witty comments and relatable posts that align with the given forum's diverse subculture vibes
  • Ability to create high-quality memes, engaging posts, and compelling comment threads
  • Genuine interest in the evolving world of memes, online conversations, and digital trends
  • Previous forum moderation experience
