Remote Culture Coach information

What is a remote culture coach?

Remote Culture Coaches are professionals who help organizations build and maintain a positive and effective company culture in remote or distributed work environments. They provide guidance on communication, collaboration, team engagement, and cultural alignment, often through workshops, training sessions, and ongoing support. Their goal is to bridge the gap between remote team members and ensure everyone feels connected and engaged, despite working from different locations. Remote Culture Coaches also assist leaders in establishing best practices for inclusivity, trust, and employee well-being in virtual teams.

How does a remote culture coach typically foster team cohesion and company values in a distributed work environment?

A Remote Culture Coach plays a crucial role in nurturing team cohesion by designing and facilitating virtual workshops, team-building activities, and regular check-ins that bridge geographic and cultural gaps. They collaborate closely with HR, leadership, and team leads to embed company values into daily workflows and communications, ensuring consistency across remote teams. Common challenges include overcoming time zone differences and fostering genuine relationships without face-to-face interaction, so successful coaches leverage digital tools and tailored strategies to create a sense of belonging and shared purpose. This role also often includes providing ongoing feedback and resources to help teams adapt and grow within a remote-first culture.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote culture coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Culture Coach, you need a background in organizational development, experience in change management, and often a degree in psychology, HR, or a related field. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and culture assessment platforms, as well as relevant coaching certifications, is typically required. Outstanding communication, active listening, and cross-cultural sensitivity are crucial soft skills for fostering engagement and trust remotely. These competencies enable effective guidance of teams through cultural transformation, ensuring alignment and productivity in distributed work environments.

Job description

Description

Be Part of Something Radically Different

At Holon Health, we don't do "business as usual." We're a trailblazing healthcare startup reimagining what it means to care-for our clients and our people. We provide whole-person care to justice-involved individuals living with Substance Use Disorder (SUD)-and we do it with deep compassion, community wisdom, and an unshakable belief in second chances.

Our approach throws out the playbook. We integrate medical, behavioral, and social care. We prioritize prevention and recovery. We treat clients like people, not checkboxes. And just as importantly, we know that our team can only care for others if they're cared for themselves. That's why we lead with flexibility, trust, and a culture built on well-being, inclusion, and respect. If you're energized by meaningful work and want to feel good about how you spend your days, read on.

Position Summary

We're looking for a mission-aligned Recovery Coach to bring the power of lived experience to the center of our care model. As a certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRS), you'll support justice-involved individuals on their recovery journey-offering encouragement, building trust, and helping them navigate the barriers that stand between them and lasting wellness. Your lived experience with recovery will be a powerful asset in building authentic, hope-filled relationships with clients who may be navigating complex health, behavioral, and social challenges.

Schedule & Location

This is a full-time, remote position, Monday through Friday. Some evening availability may be needed to accommodate client needs across time zones.

What You'll Do

  • Build trusting, nonjudgmental relationships with clients based on shared lived experience
  • Use personal recovery experience to offer hope, motivation, and accountability
  • Collaborate with participants and the Holon care team to develop personalized recovery plans
  • Connect clients to community resources (e.g., housing, healthcare, employment, transportation)
  • Conduct strengths-based assessments to identify client needs and goals
  • Advocate for clients within the justice system, care system, and other relevant environments
  • Partner with Care Navigators, clinicians, and judicial points of contact for integrated care
  • Stay informed on best practices in peer support and recovery-based care
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Contribute to new initiatives and engagement strategies as assigned

Requirements

What You Bring to the Table
  • A person in sustained recovery with at least one year of lived experience (strongly preferred)
  • Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRS) or Peer Recovery Coach
  • Deeply empathetic, with strong listening and communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about the realities of recovery and the barriers clients may face
  • Committed to maintaining professional boundaries and ethical standards
  • Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced, team-based environment
  • Aligned with Holon's values of equity, inclusion, and whole-person care
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • Certification as a Peer Recovery Coach or PRS in the state of Michigan (national certification from an accredited agency like NAADAC is also accepted)
  • 1-2 years in a peer support role is strongly preferred
  • Lived experience or close connection to someone in recovery is strongly valued
  • Experience working with justice-involved populations is a plus
